The Dan Journal #299. Tasted 9/14/09. Blue Wax top. 22oz bomber. Thanks Keir. Clear with a dark golden hue. Webbed off-white head. Aromas of fresh green hops, grapefruit and honey. Great nose! Medium to full bodied with a sweet sticky and cloying body. Decent effervescence. Thick brew. Solid bitterness and a tingling astringent hops. Lotta grapefruit and citrus. Dry finish. Trace pepper. Singular attack but very nice!

Fresh navy blue wax dipped bomber. Pours mostly clear, with a golden-orange amber hue. A thick head of ivory tinted froth shows good retention, sticking around for the duration and leaving scattered spots and splotches of lacing on the glass. As advertised, the nose shows signature rye grain crispness, fresh and clean, with lightly sweet toffee and toasted bread malts in the base. A bounty of juicy grapefruit and lemon hops add further sharpness, complementing the rye malt perfectly. Flavors are incredibly well balanced and tasty, sharp rye malt and bitter, peppery citrus rind hops slicing through the toffee and toast like a knife through hot butter. Grapefruit and rye linger well after the swallow. The palate is medium-full, with lively carbonation and a sharp, resinous finish that manages to stay quite drinkable for such a big beer. Damn good brew. I love rye IPAs, and this is one of the best I’ve ever had.

22 oz bottle. Cloudy orange brown with a lacy white head. Nose is pink grapefruit, candi and rye. Medium body with crisp carb. Taste is tangerine, toffee and grapefruit pith smoothed by rye. Dry bready finish with some grassy bitterness. Typically solid IPA from these guys even better with the rye.

22oz. navy wax bomber with thanks to FlssmrBrewAlum! Pours a hazy orange gold with a nice creamy off-white head and good lacing. Aroma is spice, pine, grass and a bit earthy. Flavor is pine, spice and rye notes; a little earthy as well with some caramel sweetness. Another nice easy drinking IPA from Flossmoor, thanks Adam!

On tap at Flossmoor, served in a pint glass. Dark amber pour with a one-finger thick head of lasting beige foam. Heavy rings of lacing were left around the glass. The aroma had bright floral hops, fresh pine needles, and some underlying caramel. The flavor had caramel, a touch of rye spiciness, pine, and grapefruit. Really hoppy, but not overly bitter. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied and had light carbonation. Quite a tasty brew. Nice mix of rye and hops.
