Aroma is grapefruit, caramel and biscuit. Flavor is grapefruit, orange and melon with a big malty backbone to it. Caramel dominates throughout but balances with the hops. Piney as it warms and on the resiny side of things but still very drinkable. Very dry finish with some resin and a coating of grapefruit leaves you wanting more. I like this.

Big hop aroma. Golden coloured a little hazy in appearance hoppy and fruity grapefruit flavour with a little dryness in a crisp and bitter malt finish. MrBunn (1559), Western, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 6, 2009 Bottle with many thanks to DrnkMcDermott. X-IPA scratched into the wax on the bottle. Body is a lovely dingy tarnished penny with a little bit of a head. Lots of hops and sweetness in the nose. Pine, grapefruit and other citrus, brown sugar and caramel... smells darn good. Flavor is a little punchy. Has a lot of alcohol present with a puckering hops presence and a little too much malty sweetness for my palate. Malt is barley wine like... brown sugar and dates. This has a sticky finish and strikes me more as a barley wine than an IIPA. Petrucci914 (599), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 21, 2009 Drunk in New Glarus Brewery parking lot in plastic Duvel cups.......heh, right. Pours a copy color with a medium off-white head which leaves a lot of sticky webbing. Aroma is grapefruit, orange zest, and earthy hops. Taste is much the same. It reminded me a lot of Two Hearted Ale, but the bitterness was a bit abrasive for me. Juelze (920), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jun 21, 2009 I bought this in Madison and couldn’t wait to try it so my brother and I ended up drinking this in the parking lot of the new New Glarus Brewery out of plastic cups. Mind you these were GOOD plastic cups. hehe. Anyway, pours a hazy rich copper hue with thin medium off-white head. Aroma is very resinous with a lot of grapefruit, orange and some other citrus accoutrements. Taste is intense citrus, earthy pine and oily hops with a moderate malt backbone. This isn’t as floral or fruity as say Hopslam, but this definitely reminds me of a West Coast IIPA. Finishes slighlty sharp with moderate carbonation, but still a world class beer. nickd717 (1393), Palo Alto, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 25, 2009 Bottle acquired via trade. Pours a cloudy golden-amber with an off-white head. Citrusy hops and sweet malt on the aroma. Flavor is Amarillo hops, highly citrusy, balanced with sweet caramel malt. Amarillo is one of my favorites so I like it. Nice medium-full body with average carbonation. JaBier (1264), Capital City, Ohio, USA

Appearance: Poured a hazy yellow/gold color with a thin white head. Aroma: Huge citrus, with oranges, lemons and grapefruit, with hints of pine. Flavor: Sweet malt base and a healthy dose of citrus in the base and in the finish. Palate: Medium/full bodied with solid carbonation and a slick mouthfeel. Overall: Impressive. My first Flossmoor beer was a resounding success.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 12, 2009 22oz bottle courtesy of inkubus27. Pours a cloudy straw light caramel brown color with not much head; kind of unpleasant looking. Nose isn’t overly powering, but I am picking up some nice citrus notes, decent hop resin, and a touch of caramel malt. Flavor has the same stuff that I am smelling with a very mild hop presence. It is a touch on the sweet side, which I don’t necessarily mind. Very drinkable and decent, just a touch watery and lacking in inspiration a bit. Thanks Tim for sending this one my way.
