Ungstrup (11378), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 23, 2005 [At GABF 2004] A hazy orange beer with a disappearing white head. The aroma is sweet hoppy combined with some notes of grass. The flavor is sweet and very hoppy, combined with notes of caramel leading to a nice very dry end. kp (6200), Woodstock, Georgia, USA May 11, 2008 Name: X-IPA

Rastacouere (5409), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Jul 15, 2008 Objectively speaking:
A barely average double IPA from a far above average brewpub.
I like:
Comfortable, absolutely fitting body. Quite dry for the style, certainly never syrupy and remaining quite drinkable. Never burning bitterness. Alcohol remains veiled. Very clean.
I dislike:
I had higher hopes. Not so aromatic as I anticipated. Same old citrus display with little regards for the rest. Malts do not contribute much besides body support (though that is well done indeed) CaptainCougar (4664), Rockville, Maryland, USA Oct 9, 2004 Updated: May 10, 2008Bottle: Pours a transparent copper bronze with a spotty-lacing white head. Aroma of fresh piny grapefruity hops with a good sweet caramel maltiness. Starts full bodied and sweet with an assertive resiny hoppy character and good malty balance. Finishes slightly warming, crisp and full-flavored. A nice IIPA.
GABF 2004: Clear pale golden color with a pure white ring of foam. Has a bold semi-sweet, piney hoppy aroma. Rich and powerfully bitter, yet not overpowering with a nice sweet balance. Crisp hoppy finish rounds out a very enjoyable and drinkable double IPA. MartinT (4377), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jun 23, 2008 My Bottom Line:
Biscuity malts build a sturdy foundation for the potent earthy and orangey hoppiness to flourish in this quaffable and calmly bitter Double IPA.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the hazy orange.
-The explosive hoppiness in the nose is alluring and quite different (more sandy and earthy) from the usual Amarillo I’m used to. The purported grapefruit character is quite mellow in this bottle.
-Carbonation is pillowy and serves the body quite well.
-The finishing bitterness is not very strong for the style, offering delicate wooden, resinous touches.
-Malt presence is quiet in the flavor profile, yet hops do not overthrow it.
