Commercial Description:
Dry Hopped with a load of Cascade hops grown in the Pacific Northwest. Doggie Style has enough hop character to satisfy hop-heads, but isn’t overpoweringly hoppy. It’s brilliant amber-copper color and pleasant malt flavor comes from the addition of Carastan malts.

This poured up a frothy, two-fingered, off-white head on top of an amber/orangey sort of body. The aroma was mostly hopped but with some citrus notes as well. It tasted almost like an IPA, as it did have a bite to it (no pun intended). Good mouthfeel and a touch of sweetness at the finish.

On tap at the White Horse, Parsons Green, 3rd July 09. Slightly funky aroma of grassy hops. Clear bright amber looks. Lively, slightly fizzy palate. Hoppy & spicy but it didn’t click for me.

Tap @ Christian Firtal, Odense. Clear amber coloured with a dense white head. Aromas of citrus, caramel, pine and malt. Flavour of floral hops, caramel, malt and a bitter hoppy finish.

330 mL into pint glass. Pours a light amber with a decent eggshell head that leaves some spotty lacing. Aroma is crystal malt, citrus hops, earthy hops. Taste is heavily unbalanced towards the dirty, earthy Cascade hops that finish with a metallic aftertaste. Malts here do not add enough depth and character. Compared to say All Others Pale, this is a very poor showing indeed for the style.

Overall Impression: This is a pretty solid APA from Flying Dog. It’s well balanced and tasty. This brewery is probably 45 minutes from me and somehow I have never visited it...
