Commercial Description:
Dry Hopped with a load of Cascade hops grown in the Pacific Northwest. Doggie Style has enough hop character to satisfy hop-heads, but isn’t overpoweringly hoppy. It’s brilliant amber-copper color and pleasant malt flavor comes from the addition of Carastan malts.

08/10/03 On tap at Popeye. Tried out of curiosity. Immediately I noticed the freshness - this had been kept well. Not malty at all as with other Japanese pale ales that evening. More of a restrained hoppiness - a definite slow burner with a slightly sweet aftertaste and IBUs around the 40 mark. Worth seeking out.

Pours blood orange reddish, with a two finger off whit head that fades slowly to a skim that stays.Lots of caramel malts and pine hops in the nose, beyond that with a swirl grapefruit citrus hops and some straw come about, but oddly fade quick. Flavor is pine and citrus hops, caramel, grain malts. Some straw and grainy malts as well. Finish is quick and crisp: grainy malts and bitter, citrus and pine hops. Body is thin and kinda astringent, really lacks the heft of a great APA. A decent example of the style, although kinda weak it offers decent complexity.

(Bottle from 1828 Vintage House) Pours rather clear coppery amber with a couple of foamy fingers of off-white head that recede rather quickly to a thin. lasting layer. Aroma of caramel, vanilla and some pine. Mouthfeel fairly smooth, light-medium heft. Flavor is quite malt-forward, almost like an Oktoberfest or Vienna with notes of caramel and vanilla. Light-medium bitterness overlays and then builds a bit through finish providing a little pinch and leaving a somewhat bitter aftertaste. A little rough but overall a pretty good APA.

Wonderful dark amber colour. Beatiful structured lasting head with some lacing. Not much of an aroma, but a very nice taste balanced between mild sweetness and aromatic hops. For a pale ale, I think it has lots of personality.

Nice balance of hops and malt a very drinkable beer. Not exceptional but affordable and not bad. Spicy aroma thin pour but good mouth feel.

Clear amber with small head. Pine and grapefruit aroma. Hoppy oaky taste has fruits and caramel malt. Slippery but thin palate. Very bitter finish.

on tap: aroma is grassy and citrus, very much a dry-hopped character. pours dark copper with a large off-white head. flavor is mostly dry-hopped character with a little crystal malt, but lacks depth. an okay beer, but there are much better pales
