It is a clear, copper colored beer with a nice off-white head that quickly dissipates. A caramel aroma gives way to a orange citrus hop nose which carries through to the flavor. The flavor is balanced a little toward the hops leaving your tongue with an assertive grapefruit sensation. tarjei (1753), Bryne, Norway

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 28, 2008 12oz bottle: caramel amber liquid with a satin, creamy, yellow head. Aromas of malt, fresh baked bread, pineapple and citrus hop character, light fruit, and a distant raisin lingering around someplace. Overall hoppy with some caramel malt. Fruit salad, citrus, caramel and licorice. Nutty in the middle and at the end. Hops carry you through from beginning to the long finish where the hops turn grassy and the caramel starts to stale just a tad. As the name says, it is a Classic Pale Ale but that also means there is nothing really to make it stand above the other many pales. Don’t get me wrong it is good, but so are many others. They are PERFECT summertime beers. This one had all the qualities you would expect from a good APA.. especially that prototype hop bite. This one was a little darker in color than I expected, but that was a plus for it in my book.
