| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Sep 20, 2008 Faint, jelly-candy coldwater aroma. Darkish, orange-bronze. Tangy, metallic bland. Didnt stand up back-to-back with Great Lakes’ Oktoberfest offering. Unpleasant, tongue-turning astringency and bittering. Medium light body. Light toast, tangy finish. Choco-tootsie pop qualities as it warmed. nqualls (1428), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Sep 19, 2008 Pours reddish brown in color. What little head there is that forms on the pour is gone by the time I sit down. Smell is malty and somewhat floral. Taste is more of the caramel malt, but I’m also getting a sweet, brown sugar flavor as well. Not bad. Decent mouthfeel that is very easy drinking and smooth. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 19, 2008 Pours a golden amber color with an off-white frothy head that lingers nicely. Aroma is very sweet and sugary caramel. There is, however a nice hop backbone that has a fairly strong presence. Flavor is even stronger caramel sweetness that just screams Octoberfest. The hops are a bit less apparent but still provide a nice character that holds up the bitterness in the finish. Medium body and medium carbonation. Good Octoberfest all around. hamsterglory (48), Bryan, Texas, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 19, 2008 pouring this beer into a glass smells like pulling fresh bread out of the oven. slap a slab of butter on this puppy - malts and grains and gritty earth dust up the nose, screaming for flour crested aprons over greenly spankin’ lederhosen. the in-glass lights reflects stronger hues of deep red, crisper than a typically bright marzen orange. a slight rush of malts pushes to the front of the flavor, swirled by even slighter hints of caramel and maple, but all washes away too quickly with an out-of-place hoppy finish. no, sir: don’t wash these malts away. i want to taste everything i smelled at the front of this beer. although a weak offering to the style, i consider this one of flying dog’s better beers. adrian910ss (1432), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
