Commercial Description:
Dogtoberfest is a unique beer containing five premium malts. This lager draws its influence from the Vienna Marzen or Oktoberfest style. It is rich and malty with a sweet aroma and deep mahogany color.

Nothing special, but still nice. Poured a nice mahgany hue with a white head that had no retention or lacing. Aroma had some caramel notes and subtle wheat notes. Flavor was a bit on the sweet side. Smooth finish.

Orange color with a pocketed off white head. Nose is caramel malt, metal, and celtzer. Taste is really grainy or raw and is encased by lots of caramel that you would expect from an oktoberfest. Kind of reminds me of mini wheats. Not bad but kind of odd. Medium to long finish and pleasant mouthfeel.

Bottle - Brown/amber in colour with mild carbonation and a small head. Spicy malt aroma with fruity tones and light hops. Fruity and malty taste with hints of vanilla, lemon, toffee and grapefruit hops. Not bad at all.

First sniff is a woody, spicey, mahogany malt. Pours a deep orange- gotta love marzen- slash bronze hue with a fluffy white head. Very impressive marzen here, a slightly different take. A ton of woody, bready malt. Some haylike malt there, super malty. Not too much sweetness but there is some caramel sweetness there. As the beer starts to really warm and I get down past half-glass, the sweetness comes out. Lots of honey and caramel. Pretty complex for an American brew. Very smooth, just the right thickness, carbonation tickles my gums, really satisfying mouthfeel. This is a really, really good marzen- I’m surprised that it has as low of a rating as it does. Check it out this fall if you’re looking for a good American take on marzen. Just fabulous.

Pours a clear reddish brown with a small white head. Aroma of malt, hops, spices. Flavor is malt, spices, grain, and a slightly bitter hop finish. Just ok as far as octoberfest beers are concerned.

Bottle, pilsner glass. Pours a clear, deeply red amber. Smallish beige head, dissipates quickly, minimal lacing. Aroma has equal parts hay and malt. Malt elements begin as a light honey sweetness and grow in depth and complexity, but then turn somewhat sour, into a tang that if one was charitable, could be called vinous, if uncharitable, metallic. Hay-like bitter hops last throughout the mouthful. Sparkly mouthfeel, with the potential to become very creamy if savored for a while.

I’m a sucker for Marzen style beers. Love the malt carmel flavors with just a hint of spice. Smooth and easy to drink.
