Lightly sweet caramel and biscuit aroma. Medium body, clean and solidly malty with a wee whiff of caramel. Has a dry but not overly bitter finish. Quite pleasant. 131107 latneyblunk (40), California, USA

Orange/Amber color with a decent pale head. Nice malty aroma with minimal caramel notes. I would call this a breakfest lager if such a category existed. Sweet Bisquit and honey flavors. Overall a pleasurable drink with rich complexity. Magicdave6 (5558), London, Greater London, England

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 7, 2007 A pretty good oktoberfest. It has a very rich and spicy aroma of strong malt. The flavor is malty, with a little bit of almost lemon zest. It doesn’t taste like a traditional oktoberfest, but its good nonetheless. Dacrza (253), Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Nov 7, 2007 In the midst of sampling a dozen Octoberfests, enter Flying Dog and their butt-ugly labels...a copper-brown body with a frothy, half-uinch head that flattens rather swiftly to an uneven cloud....low-end lager that exhibits lightly-toasted senses...softly fizzy, medium dry body--appropriate in its style...slightly pedestrian in flavor....subtle but serviceable (an extra hint of yeast?)...a basic marzen, less sweet than I’d like...likeable but not laudable.... emerica56 (587), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 7, 2007 This beer has a nice cloudy orange amber color to it with a nice full head and some good laceing on the sides of the glass. it has a standard octoberfest aroma of honey and earthy tones. As you drink it there is a nice initial earthy flavor on the tip of your tounge as well as some honey and mild hints of caramel malt which come in as the beer warms up. The palate is very weak just earth tones. Drink4Satan (586), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 7, 2007 Pours a copper colour with a medium kakhi head that fades quickly. The aroma is very sweet malts (honey, cookie, light fruits) and some faint, earthy, grassy hops. There is a metallic charater that just ruins the nose for me. The flavour is doughy malts, light citrus fruits and honey sweetness (not deep enough to be caramel-like) with some bitter, grassy hops in the finish. A tad bit sour, but this does little to affect the spectacular drinkability of this brew, which is in my opinion its only strong point.
