Some small lacing, yet not enough to elevate the appearance score above average. Crisp, inviting, toasted malt aroma. Too bad the flavor wasn’t more of a reflection of the aroma, as the hops used here didn’t seem to complement the malts very well (too much of a musty bitterness). The carbonation was nearly perfect, though, so I have to commend Flying Dog for that. Overall, this seasonal offering isn’t too bad, but better ones aren’t too hard to find. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 17, 2007 Coppery colored, medium sized light brown head. Sweet aroma with caramel and toffee, chocolate and some hops also there. Medium bodied. Flavor is also sweet with some toffee-chocolate, more hops come up with bitterness than in aroma. Aftertaste turns to lemony-hops, still some chocolate and vegetables here. Good oktoberfest-brew. thebeertourist (2822), Oslo, Norway
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 17, 2007 Bottle at The Rake. Copper-coloured with a creamy offwhite head. Good caramel aroma with hints of rye bread. Rye bread flavours. Sweet, but still harmonious. A bit hard on the tongue. Flying Dog seldom disappoints. KnutAlbert (3217), Oslo, Norway

Caramel malty and slight metallic note in the flavour. Slight hoppy flavour into a dry finish. Decent. jrob21 (1275), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Oct 15, 2007 I’ve been having a lot of these lately and this one has a little more hops in the flavor but only faintly. This is also the thinnest with the smallest malt profile and caramel flavor I’ve had. The color is a light clear copper with a big foamy head. Some creaminess to the texture. Past that, not too exciting. faroeviking (6120), BjórtjóðveldiðBjórheimBjórsins, Faroe Islands

Aroma of toasted malt and caramel. The flavour has toasted malt and caramel, some hoppiness and bit breadiness. Dry toasty and bit hoppy finish. GirlyBeer (183), Biddeford, Maine, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 14, 2007 I had this beer at an Oktoberfest horizontal at a friends house. Light and sweet aroma. Pours light orange. Light and well balanced flavor. Sweet with a light hop finish that I can only categorize as "tasty". Overall I found this to be a nice and well balanced beer. I especially enjoyed it for it’s light, sweet, and roast flavor.
