Commercial Description:
Dogtoberfest is a unique beer containing five premium malts. This lager draws its influence from the Vienna Marzen or Oktoberfest style. It is rich and malty with a sweet aroma and deep mahogany color.

Copper pour, little head, and a touch of lacing. Smell is honey, malt, graininess, yeast. Taste is a bit of tart maltiness, with a thinnish body to go along. Nothing bad, but not spectacular either. A very average beer.

12oz. Bottle: Aroma of malts, wood, nuts, and earth. Poured copper/amber in color with a small, fizzy, tan head that diminished almost immediately. No lacing. Clear. Very sparkling. Flavor is extremely malty. Tastes of malts, nuts, oak, leaves, earth, dough, and wood. Light to medium body. Tingly, thinish texture. Lively carbonation. Very malty, salty finish. Overall, an ok Oktoberfest.

The first pour led me to believe this was an exceptional choice from Whole Foods as the dark red and brown ale came up with a decent head. The aroma was wasn’t overwhelming as I went for the first taste and then it seemed like ho-hum.....nothing special... the taste was average without any gushing excitement. I did drink the rest of it, but it lacked magic.

A decent Oktoberfest. I’ve had quite a few of this style the past couple days and am getting tired of typing almost the same description for each because this doesn’t really stand out. Aroma of sticky malt..decent. Pour was a nice dark amber with a one finger white head. Taste was nice and malty with a sugary aftertaste and a bit of hops in the end which was different. Dryer than most of this style, but pretty good.

Bottle - Pretty decent beer, my first journey with thus style of beer and I would go back for more. Wonderful color, scents of rye and wheat with some sweetness in the mix. Drinks smooth, malty and some mild hops but leaves a bitter tang in on the tounge (malt I’m assuming). Flavor drastically changes as beer warms up, which is good although I like cold beer. Overall impressive, would like to compare with Sam Adams Octoberfest.

This must have been one of the easier flying dog beers to name. A pleasing orange color, crystal clear. Medium, off white head lasts a while. A very pretty beer. Malty aroma, caramel with a hint of butter. Diacetyl? Flavor is malty munich malt octoberfest. There’s some esters from the yeast though, and more butter in the flavor. There’s also an unexpected bitterness - no hop flavor or aroma but a little overbitter for the style. Although its a very pretty beer I’m not overly impressed.
