Doughy caramel notes in the aroma. The body isn’t terribly thick, but it feels creamy and full bodied in the mouth. It feels as though this should have been slightly colder when I sampeled it, but it’s okay. Doughy flavours again, with some musty graininess. It’s a decent drikning beer, but there’s not a whole lot aboout it that I can rave over. It’s pretty average as a beer, but I’m not sure how well it conforms to its style. kmarthomebrew (18), USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 4, 2006 pours light brown, smells very inviting and of caramel and dough. taste of sweet caramel malt with a sweet aftertaste. good but i wish it had as much flavor as the smell let on. Even though it is good it lacks as an Octoberfest. Nothing really stands out besides the aroma. thomasacross (129), Edina, Minnesota, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Nov 3, 2006 Bottle. Pours a little lighter than the amber in a typical Octoberfest. Way too bitter and fizzy than the Octoberfests that I enjoy. Doesn’t resemble the style in a way that I found terribly compelling. As a beer in general it might not deserve this low a rating, but I found this beer very lacking as an Octoberfest. beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 2, 2006 From the bottle pours a clear amber with a thin offwhite head. Toasty sweet cereal malt up front, lots of caramel. Finish had a mild hopping with some fruitiness from the malts. Lots of body to this brew while still remaining smooth and drinkable. Balanced and bready oktoberfest. vyvvy (2043), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Nov 1, 2006 At times Flying Dog impresses me, but not very often. This one was a disappointment. Pours copper with an uneven fizzy off-white head. The aroma has caramel malt and a staleness that reminds me of dirty socks. The caramel is not very rich for a marzen. Medium body, but light for the style. there is some subdued sharp carbonation. Starts with dry caramel malt that has that offputting staleness from the aroma. The finish is still stale with a touch of spice. Comes across very few characteristics and what is there is not very good. Beerdedone (1885), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 1, 2006 Bottle sampled with Stegosaurus. Pours amber with a big off-white head. Aroma of caramel malts and hops. The flavor is sweet, caramel, and mild bitterness. Good beer. Jayb0 (752), Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 31, 2006 I usually don’t care for the myriad of US brewed seasonal Oktoberfests. This one is at least drinkable even if it isn’t quite on the money. Perhaps too hoppy.
