Taste is also pretty typical but not overbearing - malt, caramel, sugar, and biscuit. This one is pretty light on the aroma and taste for an Oktoberfest - which while okay with me as many in this style when in full aroma/taste come off skunky to me - a true Marzen lover might not think so much of this offering. nate2g (1140), Brisbane, Australia

It had a smell of caramell and sweet malt. It had a taste of sweet malt, caramell, tea and sugar. Fairly smooth with no bad tastes. Felt like a slightly above average lager. wickedpete (629), Lexington Park, Maryland, USA

Pretty light body. bluemooner (238), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 10, 2009 Pours a clear copper hue with a thin white head. Very attractive looking beer. Basic aroma of caramel malts, toast, and grain. Light bodied with medium carbonation. Taste is a bit weak with toasty caramel malt, light earthy and grassy flavors, brown sugar and light sweet notes. Mediocre Marzen. dallam1 (3), Pennsylvania, USA does not count | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Oct 7, 2009 Smells good, brown color, very full of hops...maybe too much for my taste, good flavor, minimal aftertaste nickd717 (1394), Palo Alto, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Oct 7, 2009 Had this on tap at Flying Dog Brats and Gonzo prior to GABF 2009. RBed this beer and was surprised by the mediocre ratings. Thought this was great for the style, and hey, it won gold at GABF. Appearance is phenomenal - slightly cloudy amber color with a creamy white head and great retention and lacing. Aroma is sweet caramel malt, roast, earth, grain, and grassy hops. Flavor is earthy, sweet caramel and Munich malt, along with some roast, spice, and grassy hops. Really comes together well and is tasty. Palate is rather syrupy for the style, but that’s really the only downside to this beer.
