| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Oct 14, 2006 Transparent amber with minimal head. Aroma is very muted toasted malt, corn? and faint spicy hop character. Flavor much the same, fades out rather quick, leaving a certain astringency aftertaste. Body/mouthfeel is thin and watery. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 14, 2006 Looks to me like I am going to be pouring out a lot of Oktoberfest. I don’t seem to like any of them, which must mean I just don’t like the style. Again, totally clear golden copper. Again, small tan head that vanishes quickly, leaving no lace. Again taste of sweet malts and caramel, with a hint of spice, but straw and some sort of stinky vegetal overtones that I just don’t like. Not much hops, none in the finish, just vegetables and a little spice. ukoolaid (572), Amherst, Massachusetts, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Oct 10, 2006 Bottle. Pours a copper orange with off-white head. Aroma of light hops and malt. Taste is lightly bready and malty. More hops than most marzen. Kinda skunky, but not in a terrible way. bdjames29 (272), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Oct 9, 2006 Bottle. Unappealing. Unbalanced. Not smooth - a bit jerky. A bit of skunk. No traditional malty sweet characteristics that I love about Marzens. Overall, quite depressing. I have had nothing from the Flying Dog as of yet to make me ever want to purchase their products again. My worst Marzen of the season thus far, besides Hoffbrau - which was a step down from malty urine. SynergyXJ (506), Blacksburg, Virginia, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 5/5 | 10/20 | Oct 8, 2006 Bottle. Poured orange with little head, but good lacing. Light aroma, semi sweet and some hopps. Flavor was very strong of hops, took me by supprise, somewhat imbalanced. Smooth palate, no aftertaste. Chucks66 (84), Beachwood, Ohio, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 8, 2006 Pours with an orangy/copper color, aroma of malt and hops, surprised by the hop bitterness taht i got out of this bottle, did not expect that much hop flavor in an Octoberfest, still malt and sweetness, low alcohol presence and drinkable jzzbassman (849), New Albany, Mississippi, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 4, 2006 Bottle. Poured a copper color with a small ivory head. Nutty sweet aroma. Malty and very sweet, very drinkable. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 3, 2006 Bottle. Pours out an orange color. Some maltyness is detected with the smell and just a tad bit of hops. Pretty sweet smelling too. Taste is smooth and rather thick and rich with some subtle hints of sweetness in the taste. Not really an excellent beer, but its drinkable, as is most everything they brew.
