eraserhd10 (226), new haven, Connecticut, USA Oct 29, 2004 Above average octoberfest offering. Mild and unobtrusive. Roasty and rich malts. Caramel dominates. Some bitterness on the finish. Crisp and, ultimately, a little thin.
ilovedarkbeer (717), Dallas, Texas, USA Sep 5, 2008 Orange color with a pocketed off white head. Nose is caramel malt, metal, and celtzer. Taste is really grainy or raw and is encased by lots of caramel that you would expect from an oktoberfest. Kind of reminds me of mini wheats. Not bad but kind of odd. Medium to long finish and pleasant mouthfeel. SaintMatty (485), Tallinn, Estonia Sep 5, 2008 Bottle - Brown/amber in colour with mild carbonation and a small head. Spicy malt aroma with fruity tones and light hops. Fruity and malty taste with hints of vanilla, lemon, toffee and grapefruit hops. Not bad at all. Underhook (110), Lincoln Park, New Jersey, USA Sep 4, 2008 First sniff is a woody, spicey, mahogany malt. Pours a deep orange- gotta love marzen- slash bronze hue with a fluffy white head. Very impressive marzen here, a slightly different take. A ton of woody, bready malt. Some haylike malt there, super malty. Not too much sweetness but there is some caramel sweetness there. As the beer starts to really warm and I get down past half-glass, the sweetness comes out. Lots of honey and caramel. Pretty complex for an American brew. Very smooth, just the right thickness, carbonation tickles my gums, really satisfying mouthfeel. This is a really, really good marzen- I’m surprised that it has as low of a rating as it does. Check it out this fall if you’re looking for a good American take on marzen. Just fabulous. ericandersnavy (114), denton, Texas, USA Sep 4, 2008 bottle thanks to swalden_28. poured orange/copper with off white head. aroma had some spice, caramel, and what seemed to be some floral notes. flavor was small alcohol spice and caramel. med carb with a slick feeling before the dry finish. this one is average at best. rustychiles (438), Mesa, Arizona, USA Sep 4, 2008 Pours a clear reddish brown with a small white head. Aroma of malt, hops, spices. Flavor is malt, spices, grain, and a slightly bitter hop finish. Just ok as far as octoberfest beers are concerned.
