Commercial Description:
Double Dog Double Pale Ale Back by popular demand, our original "Wild Dog Release" is back, and this time it’s for good. Double Dog Double Pale Ale is a generously hopped ale with a deep red color and pours with a nice frothy head. The abundance of hops will conjure some provocative aromas with hints of raisins and citrus.

0,33 l bottle, bought in Cracked Cattle, Amsterdam. Alluring appearance with an amber-reddish-copper body with a medium, creamy tan head. Fantastic resiny spruce aroma of the american hops with some caramel. Oily body with a ton of powerful but well balanced , intense resiny hop, fine caramel flavor, well hidden alcohol. The strong hop dominates the aftertaste with grapefruit flavor. Strong personality with cogent character.

Bottle. Very rich malty aroma. RAisins, rum and cherries. Citrusy hops. Big, sweet flavor. Roasted malts evolves into slightly sour, bitter grape aftertaste.

Bottle thanks to Wavers1. Dirty orange pour, modest head. Aromas of spruce, caramel and some floral hops. Flavor is a bit resinous. Damn near have to chew this. Strikes me more as an IIPA the a strong ale, but whatever. Taste is very much like munching on a alcohol dipped spruce branch. Pretty sturdy Alcohol presence there...its really about all I notice.

Bottle. Amber red brown with a medium head. Aromas are caramel malts with lots of green pine. Floral and spicy with pink grapefruit and oranges. Peppery alcohol. Flavours are chewy sweet toffee malts with bitter pine and woody notes. Spiced oranges and grapefruit, too, with lots of peppery, warming alcohol. Bitter on the aftertaste with alcohol burn.

Apple juice color. Aroma of sweet hops. Bitter dry finish. A bit of taste that immediately turned into dry.

Bottle, The Sanctuary, Iowa City. Copper red pour, smallish but very sticky head. Freak-out shudder-down-the-spine hop attack to the nose. Slightly intimidating actually. Some strawberry quality to the aroma, along with melon, and a defiantly sugary caramel edge. Flavor is...shew. Gives me the shudders and the hiccups, like one of those insane habanero sauces. There is pleasure here, but it is pleasure snatched from the jaws of pain. Grapefruit rind bitterness with no subtly, just raw concentrated c-hop juice. Very sweet—I almost expect to be crunching sugar crystals. Hot rummy finish, lingering pith. As an anarchistic exercise in smashing convention, this is kind of fun. But I think my ears are bleeding, and one of these is definitely enough for a lifetime.

Aroma: light hops - basement, bread, slight fruit. Apperence: clear, amber, medium sustained white whispy head, carbonation almost non existent. Flavor: Ironically instant malt, not hops. Cooked, roasted burnt hops. Hazelnut, nutty, malty, caramel, apple. Dryer, hoppy finish. No real lingering effects. Palate: soft yet complex dry beginning which persists and ends up with a slightly abrasive rake on back of tongue. Overall impression: I’m honestly not sure this beer is being true to its self-proclaimed style but the taste, palate, and aroma are simply wonderful. Nutty, malty, hoppy finish - great balance. I will definitely be trying this beer again.
