Commercial Description:
Double Dog Double Pale Ale Back by popular demand, our original "Wild Dog Release" is back, and this time it’s for good. Double Dog Double Pale Ale is a generously hopped ale with a deep red color and pours with a nice frothy head. The abundance of hops will conjure some provocative aromas with hints of raisins and citrus.

250ml on tap at Ølbaren enjoying the friendly company of OleR and Hildigöltur among others. Shining amber body. Bubbly strip of foam. Sharp orange shells to the nose. Solid hop bitterness throughout, added by a prominent dose of spiciness and sweet caramel. Lingering aftertaste to the next morning. Masked alcohol. Delicious beer, but also very heavy to drink. I thought this was going to be my night cap, but there came one more… (Copenhagen 13.05.2009).

My favorite brew from Flying Dog. Early-bloom-flowery, almost unripe hops aroma. Full bodied and almost syrupy. Pours orange with a thin head. Flavor is extremely powerful, and the hops are intense--not for new beer drinkers; this is an acquired taste. This is a potent brew that will knock you on your butt after just two.

Orange pour with a slight off white and thin head leaving some minor lacing. Astringent hops on the nose. Didn’t realize how strong this was from the taste.

Pours amber, almost orange with an almost white head. Aroma is definitely hoppy and the alcohol smell is there also. A good bitter hop taste and you can tastes the alcohol as well, but I don’t think it’s overpowering. I drank this after a hot 12 hour workday in the hot Florida sun and it was perfect.

Double Pale instead of Double IPA... huh. Pours light amber with decently lasting head. Nose of piney hops and oily orange citrus. Pretty boozy and sweet smelling, and the palate is similar. Spicy. Oily palate. Not bad, but too much for me, I think. Not subtle at all.

Hazy orangy amber with meduim lasting small off white head. Citrus hops. Thick on the palate, hops, flowers and citrus. Very complex and noticable alcohol in the long lasting hoppy finish.

Light amber colour, strong aroma of toffee. Initial ultra-brief sweet taste as well. There is more than enough bitterness here just from the strong alcohol with a hint of vodka. The hops are of course dominant but in a way almost redundant. I found it to be drinkable only a couple of ozs. at a time. It is like being hit over the head with a sledgehammer. Not a member of the cognescenti on this one.

From tap@Ølbaren, Copenhagen. A fingerthick offwhite foamy head upon a plain brown colored body with good clarity. Smells great! Aroma is nice mix of grainy malts and fruity, floral and resinous hops. Very flavorfull with crisp and deliciously sweet grains, backed by a grapefruity, floral and resinous bitterness. Big body. Warming mouthfeel with an oily texture. Everlasting bitterness in the ending. Balanced and powerful, and dangerously easy to drink.
