Commercial Description:
Double Dog Double Pale Ale Back by popular demand, our original "Wild Dog Release" is back, and this time it’s for good. Double Dog Double Pale Ale is a generously hopped ale with a deep red color and pours with a nice frothy head. The abundance of hops will conjure some provocative aromas with hints of raisins and citrus.

Bottle. Pours cloudy, copper color, with a thin white head, some lacing. Aroma of pineapple, grapefruit and pine. Dry medium body. Some sweet malt flavor at front, and strong throughout, but citrus and pine flavor dominates, with a big bitter finish and short after-taste.

Bottle says that it is 11.5% alcohol by volume. Nice grapefruit hops with definite sweet malt. Alcohol not entirely hidden, but not really in the way either. Actually, for the price, this was an excellent find. I think next time I will but the six pack and share it with friends.

Golden beer with very moderate head which quickly diminishes. Nose is extremely alcoholic - I would describe it as honey and brandy, although hops are also there. This beer tastes more like a barley wine than an IPA to me. Nice experience, but not very much my taste

Poured to a reddish copper color with thin off-white head and a strong citurs hop aroma. Mouthfeel is medium thick and immediately dry and bitter. Taste brings out the citrus, but surprisingly, never the 10.5% abv, although I could tell later it was in there. Finish was very dry and slightly bitter, yet enjoyable. Had two, and that was all that was necessary. A fine offering

12 oz glass on tap at The Galway Tribes (Frankfort, IL). Pours a lovely dark hazy amber with a very nice beige-ish head. Aromas are strong, citrusy hops bouquet and a very piney quality. Initial taste is similar, hits hard with some great powerful hops - medium bodied grapefruit taste mixed with some serious resinous and piney notes. Catch a touch of malt with each taste, bready and caramel, but it is pretty small. Not balanced as well as it could be, but an excellent display of hops and their power. Pretty good. You don’t win awards with straight hops though.

12oz bottle. Pours deep amber, slightly hazy with a modest pale amber head. Citrusy hops aroma and taste. Strong ale palate and finish. Flavor does not fully mask the alcohol taste.

12oz bottle. Pours hazy, deep amber color with a medium size, white head, good lace. Smells syrupy malty sweet. A touch oxidized with some spicy hop aroma as well. Tastes oxidized, sweet malty with a good dose of medicinal, soicy hops. Tastes like a hoppy barleywine to me. Good dose of booze as well. Medium body, vibrant carbonation.
