| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 2, 2008 This brewery continues to earn my respect and interest... part of a four-pack sampler of "brewmasters’ choices"... cloudy orange brown bodywith a thin tracing of white head in a trappist glass--solid... sharp, aromatic bitterness--grapefruit/citrus accents with a sprcuey pine, presuming to mean hops dead ahead...and yet the wise label suggest an attempt at balance.... tongue-crunching, full-bodied hop presence with an aftertaste that is stoker-hot at first....alcohol dims and dulls any abrasiveness by mid-glass.... sharp, bitter and fruity taste--as the label promises, malts rescue the mouth fromchewing on a pine cone, instead rewarding the third sip and beyond with a rather smooth, strong presence... the double-barrelled hops continue to fire away, but thisdog is leashed... punchy, flirtatious ale that lingers but doesn’t overstay its welcome; challenging at first, pleasantly sweet at the middle and end, this beer is appropriate on a slow night and a welcome surprise to those (like myself) who believe only Belgians and Brits can sophisticate smoothly and successfully... blutt59 (2153), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 1, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Clear, amber pour. Large, fluffy off-white head. Aroma of citrus hops. Lots of lemon, grapefruit, and a subtle tartness. Flavor is nice and smooth. Very good balance of caramel malt and piney hops. There is an underlying sweetness, but the bittering hops lurking in the background counteract them. Lightly bitter finish. bboeckl (135), Grafton, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 31, 2008 Wow. Hops explosion is my first thought. Herbal Cascade hops invade every orifice of my body. There is fresh lemon, orange, grapefruit as well as a coniferous aroma-- spruce, pine, juniper! The magic and wonder of Cascade hops is on display here, folks! Now, enough about the hops.... the body of this bad boy is malty, substantial and bready. This is an india pale ale that could sustain the heartiest of sailors and that could pull the most scurvy-ridden wretch from the stranglehold of death and nurse him to back to the stoutest, youngest, bucks. We just might make an alcoholic of him him in the process. Great beer. rlgk (3378), Vårgårda, Sweden

The aroma is hoppy and fruity, very sweet. The taste is very hoppy, but not overbearing. It has a sweet finish to it, which takes off a bit of the bite. A great beer. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Jul 30, 2008 Two 12oz bottles poured into plastic cup previously containing domestic crap found abandoned on the lawn during a Tom Petty show. Needed a strong brew to celebrate this concert. Was already feeling good as these two monsters added to the insanity. The pour was kept on the downlow as security guards were always close by. More carbonation that anticipated considering the ample breasts of the double dog. Color was of dark brown probably. Taste was a complex mixture of sweet caramel beaten to a pulp by hops. Not overly sticky, the flavor felt quite balanced, despite me not being in the best state of mind to comprehend such an interesting ale. Overall, I loved it. It was a bitch jocking these and getting past security, but for the chance to drink great beer while watching one of my favorite musicians, it is always well worth it. F*ck paying $8 for a miller lite!
