| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 16, 2008 Bottle pours a rich copper/amber color with a thick two finger tan head with lots of lacing. Aroma has a ton of hops with some pine, citrus, and brown sugar. Taste is slightly sweet for just a moment and then the bitterness kicks in and lingers for a while. Flavor includes mostly hops but some nice malts mixed in for good measure. The 10.5% alcohol is noticeable, but not overpowering. MesandSim (5939), London, Greater London, England
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 16, 2008 A Mes rate: bottle at Tom’s Duff spits beer all over Mes’s jeans tasting. Rich dark amber with a thin white head. Lovely grassy hop aroma with a destinct dusty note that really reminds me of something but I can’t quite put my finger on it. Big grassy and alcoholic flavour with slight caramel malt in the background. Nice bitterness and a big sugar hit that lingers at the finish. Decent stuff. uhclem (192), Loveland, Colorado, USA
| 1.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Apr 14, 2008 Pours a hazy honey color with large specks in suspension. Yeast, maybe? Aroma was off, taste was off. Mouthfeel was pedestrian. Aftertaste was sour and unpleasant and not helped by the high alcohol content. This was a two-sips-and down-the-drain ale. Surprising, considering I like other Flying Dog beers/ales. mephisto (1144), Taiwan
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 14, 2008 a decent hop juice from flying dog: hugely dry hopped aroma contains hints of grapefruit. explosive hop flavor that is nice balanced by a firm malt profile. a solid double ipa. petermadsen (390), Vesterbronxxx, Denmark
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 11, 2008 I’ve never come to terms with the American strong ale category - to me, this beer seems fairly close to a moderately hopped IIPA.
It pours a dark, dense copper and fomrs a nice head, that leaves nice small foamy continents in the ocean of beer.
The aroma is very hoppy with a fat a and oily punch of grapes, citrus and spices.
The flavour is quite complex and rather balanced with a nice sweet malty flavour with just enough caramel to shine through. The hops fill the rest of the picture and it ends medium dry and lingers on.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 11, 2008 How is this not an IIPA? Pours nice mahogany with off white fluffy head. Nose is mainly pineapple with a touch of caramel malt. Flavor starts sweet of pineapple, followed quickly by a bit of malt and finished by a bitter hop that lingers and lingers - a bit too long. Good besides that. hayduke (1662), Eureka, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 8, 2008 From a 12 oz bottle this poured a nice red amber color with a thick and pillow-like off-white head and very pronounced lacing rings. Nose of floral hops and a smooth and rich mouthfeel. Favor is very rich and well balanced between malts and hops, with fruit, flowers, citrus, and pine all there. Long bitter finish rounds off what is a superb beer. marcus (1893), Sacramento, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 8, 2008 This orange amber ale poured with a fluffy off-white head and a floral hop aroma. There is initially a delicious roasted malt flavor, which quickly turns to hop bitterness.
