The aroma has strong notes of alcohol and roasted malt. The flavor is sweet malty combined with notes of roasted malt, alcohol, and a bit of brett, leading to a dry and lightly tart finish. Thanks CaptainCougar for coming to Denmark and sharing this. Papsoe (14996), Frederiksberg, Denmark

picking up more bret character in the flavor but it is still mild enough to be an accient to bring out the oak and bitterness,

Alright, I think it is necessary to point out that Jon is wrong:) or almost no one agreed with him on that beer. To paraphrase: "my previous realization that roasty beers go amazingly -NOT-well with big sourness (Heavyweight Saison Black, Black Ghost, Lancaster Milk Stout, some foreign stouts). Well, you put that all together and you end up with this stuff. " A further proof that it’s all a matter of opinions, I like and respect Jon, but sour and roasty don’t work at all together for me and the charcoal/roasted chocolate laden in this gonzo brought a plethora of minty, woody/earhty barrel aging notes that I’m pretty sure would have worked rather well with together on their own. Then the lactic acidity is also there, cutting sharply through the stoutish balance to push forward considerable astringency. When you try too hard... bu11zeye (5495), Frisco, Texas, USA

Aroma of oak, orange, lemon, and roasted malt. Rich, dessert-like flavor of butter, vinous, brett, vanillla, and a hint of cocoa with a sticky mouthfeel. Truely an unique twist on a baltic porter. Sweet and sour funky aroma has some fruity and chocolate notes. Starts with a tart, sticky earthy cherry flavor with some lingering dark chocolate. Interesting brew, but not quite as good of brett character as some Russian River beers.
