Commercial Description:
“Garde Dog” Biere de Garde is unfiltered with a hazy, deep golden to light copper appearance. Brewed with domestically grown French Hops and German Pilsner Malts, it gives craft beer drinkers a very enjoyable, light-bodied, subtlety sweet beer with toasty malt undertones. Garde Dog is the perfect compleiment to lighter fare such as seafood, salads, cheese and Middle Eastern and Indian foods

Is it me or does this beer smell like apples? This beer has a lager type appearance. I don’t know what type of beer this is because I have to rate on Microsoft Word because my internet does not seem to be working, but this beer is a little dull. A subtle malt smell, but nothing too special. The hops don’t stand out at all and the beer just doesn’t have a great smell to it. This beer is very lager like, and has a slight taste of honey. This beer just reeks of yeast and that is the only thing that this beer has going for it. The beer is just a honey tasting lager. I am not very impressed, I thought this beer had more to offer. Reminds me of honey brown. There are a few toffee notes, but nothing to where I am impressed.

This is a nice, simple summer beer. There is a good mix of hops and malt. Nothing special, but a medium-bodied beer that is simple but firm. No special taste.

Beer. Not really much else to say. I guess it was fruity, and had a little more flavor than a typical "beer" but that is all it really was honestly. It tastes like beer, its smooth, it lacks hoppy flavors, but it does have a little bit of malt balance. Not something I would buy again. Oh well, props for trying a weird style.

Interesting and if you like white wine you may find this appealing but I do not like white wine. This is not my cup of tea but the rating seems a bit low.

Pour is a clear bright yellow with a small white head. Aroma is grains and a sweet malt. Very faint. Flavor is more of the sweet malts with some bitterness and cream. No where near what the style should be. Almost more of a cream/golden ale than a Biere De Garde.

12oz bottle. Pours a light, clear gold with a thin white head that fades quickly but does manage to leave a few small specks of lace on the glass. The aroma is bready and yeasty with a subtle floral/spicey character. The flavor starts crisp and malty with a nice bready character. The flavor is a bit light. By mid-palate there is a touch of tartness (like a splash of pears) along with some subtle fruity esters and spices. The finish has a balancing level of bitterness that has a slightly fruity and earthy character. The finish also features some off-flavors, somewhat cider-like. The mouthfeel is crisp and well-carbonated. The beer is medium in body and finishes dry. Overall, a drinkable, plain ale that is disappointingly light in flavor.

This poured a clear dark yellow color with nice white head that stayed a little while. Had a bit of a grassy aroma to it. Flavor was rich maltiness that also has some fruity sweetness. Not much hop presence. Mouthfeel was good a bit on the thin side. Beer was okay but nothing special.

Got this beer as an extra in a trade with jmikolich. Thanks James. Pours a transparent rosy, gold with a slightly lacing white head that faded fast. First impression on the aroma was not good, I thought it smelled a bit like sweet urine. That faded fast, and left a sweet, grassy, herbal aroma. Luckily, the flavor was a little more appealing with sweet malt, grassy, and a little lemon all lurking. There’s a lasting tartness but otherwise the finish is watery. Doesn’t look great or smell great or taste real great.
