Commercial Description:
“Garde Dog” Biere de Garde is unfiltered with a hazy, deep golden to light copper appearance. Brewed with domestically grown French Hops and German Pilsner Malts, it gives craft beer drinkers a very enjoyable, light-bodied, subtlety sweet beer with toasty malt undertones. Garde Dog is the perfect compleiment to lighter fare such as seafood, salads, cheese and Middle Eastern and Indian foods

Slightly hazy golden blonde body with short lasting head. Lemon and soft banana in the taste with a subtle malt finish. Expecting some caramel characters but wasn’t really disappointed with this drop.

From bottle. Has a very nice aroma, with wheat, estery fruity character, honey, and some herbal yeasty notes. A definite Belgian-y farmhouse ale nose, aromatic and sweet and a mild bit of citrus. Orange-amber hazy with quickly dissipated head. Medium bodied, a little towards heavy, with medium to high carbonation. Starts fairly sweet with some honey and wheaty character, pilsner malt, and light spicy character. Carbonic acidity and some yeasty notes along with citrus and a mild funk. Sweet finish with little hops and just a bit of bitterness. Not too bad, actually.

A fine looking hazy amber beer with a small white head that doesn’t last. Nice smell of lemon, musky and earthy and yeasty, somewhat tart. Flavor is also tart, with a bit of a belgian yeast flavor and some bready malt. Nice refreshing beer.

(Sample Date: 2/28/2009 Source:Other) At the brewery. Light Belgian yeast character in aroma. Grainy with a light peach/pear fruitiness. Clear golden with a small white head. Flavor follows the aroma closely with a sweet moderately bitter finish.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Hazy golden colour, medium head. Citrus and pepper nose. Tastes quite spicy with coriander and pepper in the lead, noticeable alcohol and more lemons. Fizzy. Refreshing and nice, but reminds me more of Belgian brews than biére de garde.

Bottled. Clear golden color, medium white head. Aroma of some flowers, bit citrus, slight malt. Bit sweet taste, slight hop, some anis bitterness as well? Dryish palate.
