Commercial Description:
Like Hunter S. Thompson...Gonzo Imperial Porter is deep and complex. This turbo charged version of the Road Dog Porter is mysteriously dark with a rich malty body, intense roasted flavors, and a surprisingly unique hop kick. With Gonzo weighing in at 7.8% ABV, it will bite you in the ass if you don’t show it the proper respect. IBU’s: 85

Tried this alongside of Stone’s porter. Both were great. Like more bite with the gonzo at the cost of flavor but all in all excellent! Not really all that bitter either, take as good or bad I guess.

12 oz. bottle. Pours black with a creamy tan head. A very earthy nose with notes of mineral, roasted malt, a little vinousness, raisin, and a light touch of pine. Medium-low carbonation with a rich, slightly creamy mouthfeel. Nice roasted notes on the palate with some earth, mineral, and to a lesser degree coffee and caramel. As the beer warmed, some oak and vanilla came out. A medium, sweet finish. This is definitely the best beer I’ve had from Flying Dog.

Pours a deep ruby black. Nose is roast grain, coffee, chocolate, brown sugar and sweet molasses. Flavor is a light roast with bready and toasted dough notes. Slight hop bitterness. Medium bodied.

Great dark color with a lacy tan head. traditional porter nose. Only drawback here was that the roasted flavors were almost overpowering for my palate. pleasant mouthfeel.

Lousy, disturbed label. Dark, dark walnut brown, tan head. Aroma is west coast porter - like Lost Coast 8 Ball or North Coast Old No. 38. Smooth drinking, well buffered. Medium light sweetness, good bittering, nutty tones, western hop twang. Finishes without pain, over-hopping or over-roastiness. Good.

12 Fl-Oz. bottle, hunted down at Cracked Kettle, Amsterdam. The label says 8,7% abv... Dark beer with a delicious, creamy beige head with nice lacing on the glass.Coffee and roasted malt aroma with a fruity and resiny hop character. Medium body with coffee like espresso, dried fruits like plum, spicy and resiny hop. Dry roasted and hoppy feeling in the aftertaste.

Pours a dark brown with little-no light getting through; brown head laces. Malt upfront on the nose with hint of hops, some chocolates and oak aswell. Roasted malt and smoak up frront with chewy chocolatey coffee middle. Finishes with a nice warming brandy alcohol flavor with all flavors lingering. Medium-full body. Added points for the cool hunter thompson artwork. Let this one warm up to you! (definitely a cold weather brew)

Poured a dark dark brown black with a thin beige head. Nose was malty, with a hint of hops and alcohol. First impression was a big mouthful with a lot of bubble gum. As it warmed the malt and hops and smokey flavor were revealed, with chocolate and coffee notes. Decent depth of flavors, definitely worthy of the imperial label.
