| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 21, 2009 Poured a dark dark brown black with a thin beige head. Nose was malty, with a hint of hops and alcohol. First impression was a big mouthful with a lot of bubble gum. As it warmed the malt and hops and smokey flavor were revealed, with chocolate and coffee notes. Decent depth of flavors, definitely worthy of the imperial label. mpersinger (191), , California, USA

Dense brown with an edge of beige head. Sips like fine port. Thick and creamy like mocha gelatto with some oak notes. Just enough hops to balance, and no alcohol warmth. ditmier (1114), Boise, Idaho, USA

| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jul 15, 2009 Poured nice dark brown, very little head to it. First taste, slight grainy, bitter at the beginning but easy to drink. Taste of roasted coffee. Overall a good beer, that I would drink again. CamdenD (625), Madrid, Spain
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 13, 2009 Very serviceable Baltic-style porter. Nice bitterness from the hops gives this beer drinkability. Flying Dog beers, for me at least, lack signature. If there is such a thing as a standard "imperial" porter, this might be it. Makes you miss Heavyweight. GranvilleTim (522), Granville, Illinois, USA

Pours a very dark colored body, with a huge, foamy, light tan color head, lasting. Malty, roasted aroma. Alcohol, strong coffee. Some alcohol too. Roasted, malty taste. Watery coffee. Some chocolate, a little dusty. Tasty.
