Aroma is dark chocolate, roasted coffee and vanilla.
Flavor is a little sour at first, then dark roasted coffee with hints of chocolate and vanilla. It has a pleasant bitter finish.
Palate is similar to a good stout. Overall it’s nice and soft - very well balanced. scottw86 (186), Maryland, USA

Aroma is fantastic, smokey, hoppy, and roasted malts. Spices as well? Taste is a good balance of hops and caramel malts. Brown sugar and a slight alcohol taste present. Slightly creamy, and more medium bodied. Aftertaste is also very long lasting and mainly of roasted malts. The complexity of this brew is really something. Very good! | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 8, 2009 A- Pours a coal black hue with deep rich brown head that starts HUGE and dissipates down to about one finger of cream, sloppy thing lacing on the glass
S- Nose is truly amazing, a surprising amount of hops burst through a foundation of chocolate, coffee, and roasty malts, a touch of smoke and caramel
T- Initial taste is of coffee mocha malts with pine hops, the imperial nature truly shines on in this beer, tons of flavor and balance, other flavors include dark fruit, brown sugar/molasses, and alcohol warming before a bitter hop finish
M- Full-bodied, watery-to-creamy texture, prickly carbonation
D- Another delicious offering from Flying Dog, I had the pleasure of stopping at their tasting room in Denver two weeks ago and want to give props to Stephanie for hooking us up with plenty of tasters, anyway this is a mighty good hop-forward porter that I intend to re-visit many times thefle (113), , New Jersey, USA

For a strong porter I can’t understand for the life of me why it tasted weaker than most other porters. It’s not a bad porter per say, but its really just very underwhelming. avilla (12), , Italy

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 1, 2009 (12 oz btl) Pours a milky black w/ a thick, tan head which diminishes somewhat, but leaves a nice lace behind. Earthy hops combine w/ the rich malt creating an aroma of black strap molasses. Bittersweet chocolate-covered espresso beans is the best way to describe the taste. There’s a hint of dark fruit in there as well. Finishes smoky w/ a nice hop bite.
