Aromas of chocolate, roasted malts, ands some hay. Nice carbonation with a smooth taste, creamy and a bit sticky. Sweet aftertaste and I do not taste the hops that others have said, but still a good beer. dolemite77 (184), Maryville, Tennessee, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 26, 2008 HST, RIP... I had this once prior to my rating days, and I remembered thinking it was a bit too sweet... on this go around, it is just about perfect. Pours opaque brown, with more lacing than head... aroma is sweet cold coffee. Thick, rich brew that has flavors of coffee, some chocolate, grapefruity hops, and a nice dry finish. A big porter to be sure, but is relatively easy to drink. Being a great beer, dedicated to HST, I have to push this one up to the tops on my list. Unique69crazy (119), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 22, 2008 This brew was quite tasty and smooth flowing throughout. High malty notes of coffee adds to a great aroma. Good flavor, but a weak hoppy taste leaves me slightly disappointed. Overall, a great drink and I plan on buying this again in the near future. tedovertu (264), Apple Valley, Minnesota, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 21, 2008 Aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, and brown sugar. One of the best looking beers I have ever seen. Black appearance with a dark brown head that is pretty small. Some good lacing that is mostly lasting. Very complex flavor. This beer is definitely underrated even at 1200 rating as of today. Very smooth mouth feel with a soft carbonation. An excellent brew. Geuzelambix (121), København, Denmark
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 20, 2008 Smooth porter with a mix of something very, very burned and something a little watery. I like the palate, but prefer a bit more spark. Try it though - you won’t regret. movezig (137), Pensacola, Florida, USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Oct 20, 2008 I love this stuff with a passion. Very dark pour. Nose very hoppy dark roast malt. Flavors of chocolate, coffee, baked bread. Very rich almost syrupy mouthfeel. I can tell in the balance what makes it a porter but still very close to most imperial stouts. Amazing Amazing Amazing!!!!! mrmojo (37), Edmond, Oklahoma, USA

Aroma of chocolate, citrus, roasted malt and nuts. Taste is complex and smooth with chocolate, orange, cherry and a good hop undertone. jefcon (1009), Arlington, Virginia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 18, 2008 Draft. Thick and shiny, with a brown head and lacing all over the glass. Aromas of coffee and a little dark caramel, plus some hopping is detectable beneath the thick malts. Plenty of silky chocolate on the palate. Lasting finish contains a little bitterness.
