Aug 11, 2008 Has a very pretty head and a dark body. Strong chocolate with bitter alcohol goodness. The alcohol content makes up for an otherwise average porter. although the pale ale is good, I hope to one day find the flying dog beverage that does mr. thompson justice. it really should have whiskey in it, though...

Aug 10, 2008 Pours a thick and viscous motor oil, decent tan head. Aroma of malt, hints of chocolate. Flavor is very malty, traces of alcohol. A little thin on the palate, but a very nice porter.

Aug 10, 2008 Updated: Aug 12, 2008Wow, flying dog is capable of making better than average beers. And damn good impressive one here. Smells chocolatey and raisiny and I f’ing hate raisins but thankfully doesn’t taste like ’em. Good roasty flavors followed by some bitterness as it finishes up. Just the right mouthfeel. Incredibly drinkable, especially for 9.2%, at least that’s what my bottle reads.

Aug 10, 2008 Thick, creamy palate and a toasted, coffee taste. Super enjoyable beer. Fabulous mouthfeel stands out along with the heavy, toasted, creamy chocolate/coffee taste.

Aug 10, 2008 Bottle. Black colour with a small brown head. Strong roasted malt, coffee and liquorice aroma. The flavour is roasted, dark chocolate, liquorice and coffee with notes of smoke and alcohol. Bittersweet finish. Medium to full bodied. Quite good porter.

Aug 9, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pitch black with a dark-brown head. Lovely aroma, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, black licorice, leather and a touch of soy saltiness. Lots of roast with some soft berry notes. Creamy palate with light plum and more thick caramel, dark toast, and dark chocolate flavor. A bit of leather flavor and soft dryness on the finish. Silky smooth. It’s not terribly nuanced, but it is a nice rich satisfying brew.

Aug 8, 2008 Tap at Vintage Estates in Boardman. Pours black with a khaki head. Coffee and roast nose with a slight caramel sweetness. Taste is roast with abundant caramel and sweet chocolate with a nice bitter. Very good "porter". There’s a slight alcohol taste and a nice warming sensation. Great carbonation and mouth feel. Tasty.

Aug 7, 2008 Had this on last xmas and this totally suprised me since I was just picking beers at random to drag to a chilly London flat to keep myself warm. Very darkly fruity aroma, rich body and a nicely woody hoppy aftertaste. A lovely beer to drink on a chilly night, not that english people generally even know what that is....
