Chrism86 (273), Melbourne, Australia Jan 13, 2009 Pours red/brown with quickly fading beige head. Nose is very similar to a belgian quad, banana and stewed fruits that are quite overt. Malt offers sweet honey/caramel. Palate is more what i expected, significant woody characters with medium bitterness and faintly sweet malt in the finish. Carbonation is relatively lively and alcohol is evident but never overpowers. Too young i think, would benefit from medium term cellaring. Definitely has potential though! The Etruscan (304), Tuscany, Italy Jan 5, 2009 Weak beige head. Brown colour. Aroma is malty, sweet with candy sugar, dark fruits and light coriander notes. Flavor is malty too with candy, prunes and alcohol tones, ending in a moderately fruity, metallic and sightly woden finish. medium to full bodied. Adenila (931), Denmark Jan 4, 2009 Dark brown wilth a small baige bubbling head. Strong aroma of bread, grain caramel and alchohol. Medium bitter hop flavor with strong sweet malty notes and a heavy alchohol burn. webbcreative (111), , Oklahoma, USA Jan 3, 2009 pours very dark brown, mahogany color. I got no head outta this one, so no real lacing to speak of either. BIG malty taste with this one, a little bit sweet, not sure if i could drink more than 2 or 3 for that reason. Has just enough hops to balance out the malt just a bit, but is not bitter whatsoever. more i drink it the sweeter it seems to get. not sickening sweet just yet, but im thinkin maybe i could now only drink one of these bad boys at a time. Alcohol is also hidden very well in this one. austone (997), Turku; Pori, Finland Jan 2, 2009 Beautiful dark ruby with tiny light beige head. Nose is alcohol, some dried fruits, syrup and grainy maltiness. Toffee malty flavor with liquorice, glue, syrup and tangy hops. Full bodied, smooth sticky palate. This one seems to be mostly about the ABV, no distinct flavors. It sure won’t make my night. raymondwave (867), Finland Dec 30, 2008 Bottle 0,355 l. Dark hazy amber with almost completely disappearing whitish head. Nose is fruit punchy, hoppy, chocolatey, very strong on fruits and sweet berries. Flavor is pretty big, fruit concentrate, some raisins, malts and chocolate. Very strong on fruitiness, a bit too strong and tongue numbing flavor. Nicely hoppy, but could use a little less of everything. Rynoplasty (500), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Dec 29, 2008 Pours a hazy deep amber brown color with a small off white head. Aroma is big and of sweet caramel malt. Taste is also very malty, slightly sweet and nutty. Not a big hop finish in this one. WakeandBake (422), Greenville, Michigan, USA Dec 27, 2008 Bottle.Hazy mahogony color with a thin mostly diminishing frothy off-white head. Aroma of sweet caramel roasted malt, rasins grapefruit licorice and pine nuts.Flavor is big on the malt, sweet and sugary I only get a slight hint of the chocolate, some wine, dark cherries.Dry slightly bitter finish, pleasing mouthfeel..Very drinkable and better than expected.
