Commercial Description:
Big malty flavors, including licorice and chocolate, are balanced with a moderate hop profile. Brewed with copious amounts of prized malts and flaked oats, the Barley Wine is so strong that it has to be aged for several months before we can bottle it. Like a fine wine, it will continue to improve with age up to 2 years after bottling (If kept cool).

Pours a clear, rusty brown with a minimal tan head. Alcoholic aroma of malts and light caramel sweetness. Very sweet candied cherry flavor at first but a hard finish with some bitterness and dry alcohol steals the show. Allow it to warm and a fuller body shows up.

Pours brown with minimal tan head. Nice caramel, sugar, and dried cherry aroma. Flavor is a lot more caramel, with a bit of roastiness and some vinous notes. Some rotting fruit in there as well, and the alcohol is a touch too high. Other than that it is a very good barley wine.

A clear dark red/amber colored beer, with a beige head. The aroma of caramel with dark malts, with dark fruits like berries. The taste of liquorice, caramel, dry bitter, with notes of chocolate. The aftertaste is warm bitter.

0.355 l bottle. Amber color with small head. Sweet seductive liquer like aroma with almonds, honey melon, caramel, dark sugar, raisins, berries and warming alcohol. Sweet, toffeish, raisiny and caramelly flavor with almonds, toasted malt, nuts, cherry, honey and a hint of sharp alcohol. Chewy mouthfeel. Great aroma and pretty good flavor too. Could be softer and more drinkable.

Bottle. Lots of dark fruit and caramel in the aroma. Fruity, but with plenty of hops. The alcohol strength drags it down a bit, it is too alcoholic.

Yellowish beige head. Hazy brown body with reddish edges. Intense caramelly raisiny malt aroma with fruity notes. Dry-sweetish alcoholic malty caramelly chocolatey taste with fruity roasty hoppy notes. Full body. Noticeable alcohol heat. Dryish marzipan and alcohol aftertaste with chocolatey, peppery notes. Nice, but too alcoholic. (0.355l bottle from gr0ve.)

12 oz. Cloudy orangy color, with a white head. Very sweet smell... sugary. Licorice flavor is definitely there, along with a figgy, or raisin hint. Alcohol was definitely present. Not bad at all.

bottle poured into a snifter has an light orange color and a ring of off white head. aroma has dark fruited malt, sweetness, hop spice, and some alcohol hotness. mouth feel is light with low carbonation. flavor has a fair amount of bitter hops, brown sugar, and some spice. finish is lingering with spice, resin, and alcohol heat. there is some licorice in there now that i am reading the description.
