Pours a deep, red-brown body under a thin, off-white head. Firm malty to the nose. Has also got a malty taste profile with caramel notes and alcohol beneath. Vague bitter endnote. Flat carbonation. Alright, but a rather monotonous Barley Wine (Tromsø, 14.10.2008). RasterMaster (121), , Oklahoma, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Oct 17, 2008 Vintage 07F - Popped the top on this bottle and got a dark amber, roasted malty brown pour with minimal off-white colored head, leaving lingering tan lacings on the glass that linger for long after the glass has been emptied. Heavy aroma of malted flowery hoppiness, but easy on the bitterness that would be expected with such a strong brew (with 10.2% ALC/VOL). Initial flavor of sweet wine, but dimimishes with the slight bitter hoppy-fruity finish. This one is much more palatable than the smoky, oak-aged brews I’ve recently sampled and will keep a few of these around for future sampling! blutt59 (2092), Dallas, Texas, USA

Nose with caramels and chocolate and hoppy side-notes. Taste is round and sweet with nutty notes and burned malts. The finish is clearly alcohol-like... maybe too much but with nice hoppy notes. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 12, 2008 Poured a nuttty brown with virtually no
head. Some yeast sediment noted. Heavy aroma of sweet malt with a note
of chocolate in the background. Palate
was slightly oily and slightly astringent.
Sweet, but not as heavily so as other
barleywines I’ve had. Some chocolate notes and a slight licorice aftertaste as
it warmed a bit. Hansen (2266), Randers, Denmark

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 9, 2008 Bottle. Pours a ruby brown body with a quickly diminishing head. Nice dark fruit flavor of raisin and grapes. The etoh makes it come off a bit vinous, a nice viscous mouthfeel very sweet. Good beer.
