Frovigalning (398), , Sweden Oct 11, 2009 It poured a hazy brown-amber liquid with a medium sized dirty white foam. It had a strong smell of caramell, malt, whine and an alcoholic finish. It tasted the same way with a thich and heavy taste of caramell, malt and a warm alcoholic finish. A well done barley wine that I really enjoyed. armando629 (954), Budapest, Hungary Oct 10, 2009 Please drink it on a higher temperature! It will be better for You and better for the beer too! Poured hazy brown with a small off white head. Intensive resiny-fruity hop in the aroma with caramel and some malt. Well hidden alcohol in the oily body with the leader character of the fine and delicious resiny-fruity hop, tons of malt, hidden honey and cinnamon... If You drink it at christmass, the evening will be peacefull...;) jimmythechippy (15), , Australia Oct 10, 2009 complex stuff, little brown head, choco / molasses flavours, acl kept under control MrPickles (108), Wisconsin, USA Oct 3, 2009 On tap at Quivey’s Grove Beer Fest. Pours deep brown color with off-white small head. Very malty aroma with a mix of caramel apple, molasses and alcohol. Flavor is malty, cocoa, wood and dark fruit flavors. I expected a strong alcohol finish or burn, but I did not get it. I could tell it was a high ABV, but it was not harsh at all. One of the tops from the day. Hopper (277), San Antonio, Texas, USA Sep 29, 2009 An unclear brown beer with little head. The aroma is sweet, fruity, & alcohol. The taste is like fruit punch with alcohol & a bad aftertaste that leaves an unpleasant taste of metal in your mouth. My God this beer is bad, this is a very unenjoyable beer that almost got poured down the drain. daleharshman (181), San Diego, California, USA Sep 26, 2009 12 ounce bottle purchased at South Bay Drugs ($2.69). Pours a deep ruby-brown color with thin layer of off-white head. Aroma of sweet caramel, grapes, berries, anise, and alcohol. Much of the same in the flavor: caramel/toffee dominate but there are other flavors of dark fruit, alcohol, and a bit of chocolate. Finish is more sweet than bitter with some alcohol burn. Good, but a little too sweet and lacks the level of complexity of many other barley wines. thebusstop (11), New York, USA Sep 18, 2009 Pretty deep brown color with off-white small head. Very pleasant, complex sweet aroma with heavy roasted, molasses malts and herb hops with a hint of celery. Taste is not as complex with soft carbonation and an unexpected bitter finish. A nice beer overall. For a beer with such a high alcohol content, it’s very drinkable. Fratto (670), Arlington, Texas, USA Sep 17, 2009 Six pack. Tastes like chocolate with an extrememely forced alcohol content.
