| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 2, 2008 Dark amber color with minimal off-white head. Smells like malt and chocolate. The description says hops, I would say that they are hidden by the sweetness, almost tastes sugary. Overall its good, not too exciting. AndyReynolds (281), Wilder, Kentucky, USA

It also has some roasted/caramel hints to is. The taste is chocolatey with a bitter finish. It is good, but I expected something a little better from Flying Dog. Not sure if this was intended or not but the second bottle had more raisony smell. Flavor was mild chocalate with sweet malt well balanced by hops - not cloying in the least. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 27, 2008 aroma is quite vinous and sweet. taste is on the sweat side as well with notes of milk chocolate. This is definately more towards the malty side, but finish is this harsh bitter sensation that I’m not quite sure about. decent, but I almost expected better. Hoptagon (137), Arlington, Virginia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 27, 2008 12oz. Bottle 2006 vintage. Beer pours a slightly hazy brownish red with almost no head. The aroma is of overripe fruits and caramel. Unfortunately having sampled this beer over a period of time, I have to say that the nose is really the highlight. The flavor isn’t as complex as the nose and is a bit overly sweet. Some hints of raisins and chocolate malt in the flavor. The mouthfeel of the beer is decent and isn’t overly carbonated. The finish is quick and leaves a bit of sweetness and alcohol warmth on the tongue. Only difference I noticed from the aging was that the alcohol presence was a bit more subdued. Overall not bad, but nothing too memorable. nqualls (1429), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
