Commercial Description:
Big malty flavors, including licorice and chocolate, are balanced with a moderate hop profile. Brewed with copious amounts of prized malts and flaked oats, the Barley Wine is so strong that it has to be aged for several months before we can bottle it. Like a fine wine, it will continue to improve with age up to 2 years after bottling (If kept cool).

Pours a reddish brown with a thin tan head. Aroma of caramel, alcohol, and hops. Too hot. Very sweet, might be decent with a couple years on it.

Pretty good. Lacks the balance of some other BW’s, but good none the less. A little too bitter and flat in the palate. Great aroma and appearance. Nice mouth feel.

12 oz bottle. Pours dark ruby red with light tan head. Aroma is wonderful with malt, caramel, maple syrup and some toffee and hops. Flavor is smooth but boozy with malts, caramel, toffee and caramel. Would get higher scores if they hopped it a little. Has some great barley wine qualities but needs hops to hide booze a little.

Bottle. Appearance is dark brown with a tiny beige head. Aroma of fruit, caramel, booze, and malt. Taste is sweet malt and fruit, with some alchol burn in the finish. Body is full and carbonation is moderate.

Pours cloudy copper. Thin white head that lasts, some lacing. Aroma of plums licorice and and sweet liquor. Flavor of licorice granola and grassy hops. Slightly sweet but not too sweet licorice and alcohol finish warms as it goes down. Great taste, not my favorite style but this is one of the more drinkable examples I’ve found.

Pours a brownish red. Fruit aromas with a lot of alcohol in the nose. I imagine it would mellow out with age. Has a harsh bite to it.

Bottle thanks to dchmela, thanks again! Aroma of caramel and licorice malt, dark dried fruits, some resin hops and a little alcohol. Dark brown murky hue with a small almost fully diminishing of khaki head that left little lace. Flavor is sweet caramel and raisin malt with a little resin hop bitterness on the finish. Full bodied and oily soft. Alcohol is a little too pronounced throughout. Very nice for a young barley wine. A couple of years and this could be really good.
