Jul 2, 2008 Bottle at Chris_O’s 19th April 2008 tasting. Pours a cloudy reddish amber. Very sweet, with cola and chocolate malt flavours in the ascendancy. The aroma is similar. Decent weight but not a great barley wine.

Jun 28, 2008 Bottle pours dark copper with little to no head. Aroma is very mild with hints of raisin and alcohol. First taste is sweet fruit then alcohol and hops take over. Finish is dry with some hops burn but alcohol is definately present. Just not my style.

Jun 24, 2008 12 oz bottle from the Canis Major pack. Pours hazy dark red brown with a small off-white head. Very little lacing. Aroma is sweet, raisin, maybe some licorice and alcohol scents. Taste is sweet, malty, dark fruits, licorice, some bitter hops. Somewhat bitter finish. Rather syrupy. Really a very nice barleywine. It’s definitely on the maltier side of barley wines, but really that’s the side I prefer.

Jun 23, 2008 Pours a murky maroon color with a small head that leaves almost no lacing. Nose of nuts and dark fruit. Flavor of apple, pear, berries, wood, and nuts. Hints of alcohol, but it’s pretty well hidden. Dry fruity finish. Not at all bad. Something strikes me a little bit "funny" about the nose and taste. Can’t quite put my finger on it.

Jun 23, 2008 Dark burgundy amber with a small unimpressive head that disappears quickly. Aroma is muted but it has some chocolate and roasted malt. Flavor is the same but more prominent than the aroma. Mildly warm in the throat. Decent.

Jun 22, 2008 Bottle pour. Pours a weird hazy dark orange/red/brown color with a light brown head that doesn’t stick too much. A light malt/chocolate/roasty aroma mixed with some banana, red wine, licorice, and alcohol. Moderate sweet flavor and light bitterness with a dash of alcohol on the throat. Longer finish that I would have liked. The bitterness hides then shows up with a spark.
