Pours dark with a sweet smell. Very rich beer that tastes of fruit and alcohol. Leaves a nice little burn in the chest that is not at all unpleasant. I’m going to wait a little while to try the next one though. BMan1113VR (2813), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 30, 2008 I liked this one. Marked as 10.2%. Small, creamy, off-whitee head with a murky amber body. Decent lacing, as far as retention goes, the head reverts to just a ring in about 2 and a half minutes. Aroma is of sugar, seeded fruites, and chocolate malts. Flavor is of licorice, vanilla, chocolate, alcohol, coffee grounds and dates. Creamy mouthfeel, light carbonation, noticable alcohol. Cajun (144), New Iberia, Louisiana, USA

Sample Tasting - Dark plum hue with almost no head. Strong aroma - fruity, alcohol, sweet malt. Complex flavors of fermented fruit, raisins, biscuit dough, malted grain, hoppy finish.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 29, 2008 Tasted in Halifax. Could have sampled a single 355ml l, but had to kill a 4x355ml. Pours dark purple, deep dark and murk, very little head, very sweet aroma. Flavour is syrupy, sweet, and thick. Nice, but not in quantity. gringo332 (238), Richardson, Texas, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 29, 2008 Excellent beer. The initial flavor is wonderfully sweet. hoewever, it leaves you with a linguring alcohol aftertaste that ruined it for me. A very sweet aroma. Small Head. trong, but mild barley aroma with caramel. Pours dark almost black with little carbonation and a 1.5 inch tan head. Laces the glass well. Flavor is really good. Strong but mild. Taste is sweet, with malt, a little sugar, and a tinge of alcohol, but it’s barely noticable. Remarkabley flavorful, slightly sweet, and smooth. Forgiving, slightly warming, finish. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 29, 2008 Pours a dark auburn color with a medium tan head that fades quickly. Aroma is toffee, caramel, and dark rich fruit. Taste is toffee, dark fruit, and chewy. Very rich malts here. A bit too rich for me, which I know is how this style generally is. I’ll take my Leviathan or Bigfoot over this, though. HomeBrewHawk (269), De Soto, Kansas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 29, 2008 12 oz brown bottle. Unknown vintage. Appeared bottle conditioned. Served in a snifter. Poured a deep mahogany, with little carbonation. Very malty aroma, lots of caramel, some hops and a touch of alcohol. This thing is a malt bomb, lots of molasses, burnt sugar. Pretty muted hop bitterness. Hop aroma comes out as it warms. Very drinkable for a barley wine. The lack of hops led me to believe that it might have a little age on it. The vintage part of the label just said "Vintage" without a number. beerheart (237), Erie, Colorado, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Mar 28, 2008 Aroma of dried figs and raisins. Lots of sediment, probably enough to float a body. More carbonated than I expect a barley wine to be. Light alcohol, warming but fairly nondescript finish.
