Acknud (770), Morganfield, Kentucky, USA Oct 30, 2007 Dark brown pour. Small head. Aroma and taste of sweet malts. Warm alcohol finish. graham515 (419), Houston, Texas, USA Oct 30, 2007 Pours a deep mahogany into the glass with minimal white head. Aroma is very nice with bubble gum like scents as well as just an overall fruity smell. The taste is absolutely delicious. A lot of the fruit in the nose really comes through in the flavor and the alcohol is really well disguised, while still imparting a warming sensation. pdiddy (22), San Marcos, Texas, USA Oct 29, 2007 Updated: Nov 30, 2007A true sipper and a testament to the premium series by wild dog. I first had the double pale and after the horn dog I’m sold. Pours a dark brown with suspended sediment (think orbitz). Top notes of ’rum and spice.’ Oddly enough it reminds me of the dfh 120 minute ipa... (in only certian respects, of course). Can’t wait to try the porter in this series! nearbeer (1833), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Oct 29, 2007 Updated: Dec 7, 200812 oz, vintage 07C. Uncloudy, dark brown with ruby highlights, and a small mostly lasting head. Aroma is raisins, moonshine, vegetal corn and spicy molasses. Flavor is similar with some caramel and orange-grassy hops on the finish. Creamy smooth palate is medium-heavy. sunevdj (1759), Copenhagen OE, Denmark Oct 27, 2007 Updated: Jan 23, 2009Pours a clear brown with a dimminishing head. Smells of malts and alcohol. Full flavored with lots of malts. Also aromas of prunes and a hint of port. Slightly cloying mouthfeel. Medium to low carbonation. Sweet and dry finish with some alcohol. tgncc (796), Bellmore, New York, USA Oct 26, 2007 Updated: Sep 7, 2008Aroma is like most barley wines, sweet, with strong alcohol and caramel/candy notes. The aroma of dark fruit jumps out right away as the bottle is opened. Very pleasing. Appearance is a very attractive ruby red, hazy, almost no head to speak of. Flavor is sweet, malty. The finish leaves an alchol sting, and some sugary sweetness. Nice thick mouthfeel. Good BW overall, not the best. aubreya (676), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Oct 24, 2007 The color was a crisp, ruby red. The head was creamy, light biege, and thin. The aroma was sweet malt, cady-like, alcohol, and acidic fruit. The flavor was sweet, alcohol, candy-like, and citris hops. The palate was smooth and medium/thick bodied. The finish was warm. This was nice but it was a toned down version of a nice english-style barley wine. emacgee (1859), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Oct 24, 2007 Pours a burnished red that sits dark in the glass. Shows deep ruby in the light. A thin lightly creamy mocha colored head sits atop. The nose is of sweet candy, dry vinous alcohol, caramel, English character, light licorice and molasses. Thick sweet flavor, strong molasses and licorice, dry alcohol, smooth round character. Palate is full and lets you know there’s carbonation there without distracting. Warms on the way down, not a bad BW.
