brettpace (179), Northridge, California, USA Oct 1, 2007 A little to sweet for my taste, I prefer a hoppier Barley Wine. This had a fruity taste, and the aroma was also very fruity. I wasnt that impressed with this beer. However, the ABV is well hidden. jwdevalue (158), Neptune, New Jersey, USA Sep 29, 2007 This is part of a beer club. Had only one bottle but was decent for the price. Poured great and had a nice finish. Would do again. Juelze (889), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Sep 27, 2007 Pours a deep dark amber color with good amounts of lacing and a light offwhite head. Aroma is of brown sugar, caramel, chocolate, light fruit and some anise and alcohol. Taste is caramel, chocolate, anise, brown sugar, light fruit notes. This beer is full bodied, with mild carbonation and a creamy finish. Alcohol is well hidden. Great stuff. cathcacr (586), Portland, Oregon, USA Sep 27, 2007 Ignore what the ignorant bleating consensus says on this one; this is some top of the line product for the style, darn near nailed it, I should say. Taste, trust your judgment, and believe.
TorbenH (136), Frederikshavn, Denmark Sep 26, 2007 Bottle. Average off-white head. Mostly diminishing. Dark brown color. Heavy malty aroma. Oily texture. Heavy sweet flavor. bager (2121), Copenhagen N, Denmark Sep 26, 2007 Bottled. Dark and deep brown in colour with a medium sized brown head. Toasted and malty with notes of molasses, chocolate, caramel, pines, and hops. Very nice. RSRIZZO (1345), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Sep 24, 2007 Had this beer on 8/26/2006. Aroma is the rich sweet scent of dark roasted malts. Color is a deep rich brown that lets little light though. Carbonation is low with a thin but tight head. Taste is smooth and rich. Starting with a rich body it goes down smooth with just a light bite on the end. Finish comes in with a rich malt flavor that end with a sweet caramel taste. At the very end it leaves you with a lighter feel then most Barley Wines. I feel it may be just a tad bit light, but this does make it a very drinkable Barley Wine because it isn’t soo heavy and rich. boFNjackson (1233), Portland, Oregon, USA Sep 22, 2007 I absolutely love this style, I can’t see to rate them low. Bottle... poured an opaque grape color, with a thin tan head that diminished quickly. Sweet, chocolate-malt aroma. The flavors consist of that initial barley-malt bite, but great characters of creamy milk, chocolate, and a very smooth finish. The beer got better with every sip as it warms and my mouth adjusted to it’s palate. If you take fast swigs you can get the kick from the alcohol. But if you drink it slowly, and let it sit in your mouth you really get a flavor blast.
