Commercial Description:
Big malty flavors, including licorice and chocolate, are balanced with a moderate hop profile. Brewed with copious amounts of prized malts and flaked oats, the Barley Wine is so strong that it has to be aged for several months before we can bottle it. Like a fine wine, it will continue to improve with age up to 2 years after bottling (If kept cool).

A hazy red beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has strong notes of caramel, but also light notes of hops and cowberries. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of caramel, but also alcohol, and lesser notes of wood and cardemmome.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours a clear, orangey brown with a creamy, off-white head leaving some laces. Soft aroma of caramel and aroma hops. Quite a full body, sweetish with loads of caramel and a very warming alcohol. Hoppy indeed, but quite a harmonious hoppiness. A pleasant Barleywine, but not amongst the greatest of its style. 220406

Bottled. Very dark reddish brown. Toffee nose. Grapefruity hops takes over from there. Very sweet with big crystal malt character. More toffee in a finish with less bitterness than common in US barleywines. Ina barleywine tasting session it wouldn't stand out much, but omhper likes barley wines, and this is good beer.

Flavour is smooth caramel malty, a little liqourice hops edge, smooth chocolate and a nice alcohol warmth. Ends with a nice level of bitterness, warming alcohol and smooth chocolate/caramel malt.

Bottled. Deep rubyish brown colour with small head. Aroma is sweet malts, alcohol and some fruityness along with it. Flavour is alcohol, dark fruits, sweet malts as well as some fruity hops. Quite wellbalanced, even though the alcohol tends to come through a bit much.

Bottle. Good caramelly sugar aroma, some alcohol, hint of grassy hops. Deep dark red/brown with small floaties. The flavour is very sweet, caramelly, slightly roasted. Slightly rough finish, probably both from alcohol and hops, but good. Too sweet, though.
