Commercial Description:
Big malty flavors, including licorice and chocolate, are balanced with a moderate hop profile. Brewed with copious amounts of prized malts and flaked oats, the Barley Wine is so strong that it has to be aged for several months before we can bottle it. Like a fine wine, it will continue to improve with age up to 2 years after bottling (If kept cool).

Rich maltiness with a blend of caramel, toasted cereal, plum, and chocolate. Finish had a medium bitterness and some fruity hops. The alcohol is still showing a bit, so probably needs a bit more time.

Bottle. Mahogny with a good tan head. Potent raisins and nuts aroma. Good raisins, chocolate and nutty flavours- and caramel for sure. Not very hoppy and the alcohol is well-hidden. Full-bodied and soft without being sirupy. A hit-but then what would you expect from his brewer?

Dark brown, with ruby-red highlights. Sweet malty-yeasty nose. Thick and chewy texture; mild carbonation. Dark ruby-red color. Super rich and malty, with big notes of toffee, tar and caramel. Rather enjoyable.

12-oz. Pours weak-coffee brown with amber highlights and virtually no head after a minute. Watching bubbles fight to rise through syrup like this is always a little entertaining. Sweet huge malt on the nose, with toffee, vanilla, and banana. There’s even a little boozy pinch on the nose; oddly, it’s more pronounced when the beer is cold. Ultra-creamy mouth: thick, rich beer with very light bubbles. All the sweets and fruits of the nose fill the flavor, and there’s just enough hop to give it a gesture of bitter balance on the finish. This is a delicious, drinkable barley wine. Fantastic.

Murky mud-brown with a very brief tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, bran, and brown sugar. Flavours of rich roasted malt, brown sugar, and figgy fruit. Prickly alcohol warmth in the finish. Smooth, heavy mouthfeel. sweet, but not sickeningly so. A nice sipper.

12 oz. A short yet thick and creamy tan colored head formed with a dark dark amber beer hue. The aroma is of sweet malt syrup first then a hint of hops sneaks in. The taste is full sweet malt flavor of toffee/caramel – ish followed by a moderate bitterness that lingers into the dry finish. It seems to start off with a classic English Barelywine sweetness and finishes with a more American Barelywine hop influence. A good Barelywine. I’d personally prefer a bit more hops. But that’s just me, eh.

After a night of drinking crap lagers. I need a nightcap drink that would make it all worthwhile. This was definitely what I was looking for. A very warm feeling sneaks up on you when drinking this. Pours a deep amberish ruby color in the light. with a nice tan head, that is huge. A great aroma, just full of fruit flavors. A sweet taste, that I think is more akin to perhaps a winter ale, something you would see around X-mas time. Lots of carmelized sweetness with a bit of a candy cane taste, lots of black cherries, and brandy. Alchohol is apparent but not overpowering. Very enjoyable, to close the night at sit outside on a cool fall night.

Pours a dark brownish color with a marginal head. Aroma of ripe dark fruits. Plums, dates, currants, grapes, and perhaps a touch of sweet roasted malt. Sweet and hot. Notes of fruit come through with a small amount of roast and perhaps a mild bit of candied malt. Thick and sweet. I like hoppier BW’s. I like the ABV, but it might be a bit too sweet. Oh well.
