Commercial Description:
Big malty flavors, including licorice and chocolate, are balanced with a moderate hop profile. Brewed with copious amounts of prized malts and flaked oats, the Barley Wine is so strong that it has to be aged for several months before we can bottle it. Like a fine wine, it will continue to improve with age up to 2 years after bottling (If kept cool).

Very deep, amber color, with no head present, but moderate carbonation. Chocolate, malty aroma. The flavor is quite decent, with notes of chocolate and cherries. These flavors, however, seem to clash with the hop character displayed in the beer, and this leaves on odd bitter, metallic finish. A decent, but imbalanced barley wine.

Very good representative of the style. Nice caramel and coffee aroma. Dark reddish brown color and some yeast particulate. Low carbonation and very small head. Taste is sweet with some coffee, fruit, and spice. Hops are strong and bitter. Nice and thick on the palate and the aftertaste is sweet and malty. Good, but I feel that the alcohol taste is a little too high for my complete enjoyment, however it would not be a barley wine without it.

The beer after its release from the 12-ounce brown bottle resides in the glass a murky brown with ruby high lights, the head is generous in size and semi-creamy in texture, the color a winsome light tan and as it slowly dematerializes the resultant lace a thick blanket to conceal the glass. Nose is sweet with malt, hints of fusel alcohol, caramel and a nice crisp clean nose overall. Start is cloyingly sweet, thick with malt and the top medium to full in feel to the palate. Finish has a brisk acidity with the hops pleasing in their spiciness; the aftertaste continues the sweetness with a hint of alcohol bitterness, maybe just a bit too sweet for me

Cloudy, heavily-sedimented, dark iced tea colored with thin creamy head. Ugly stupid label by a dysfunctional artist. Hoppy, fairly well-balanced though not overly complex. Not much aroma for a barleywine.

I’m surprised this is as low as it is. This is a delicious and well-defined BW, IMO. Aroma has a nice herbal bouquet along with some rich malts, and there is a really full malt sweetness in the flavor, balanced by a touch of hops at the end. The alcohol really comes through and dominates the finish, though never in a bad way, really. The palate is real creamy as well.

Dark brown color with a fully diminishing off-white head. Aroma of malt and toffee. Sweet malty flavor with hints of chocolate.

Pours deep brown with red hue at edges. The thin tan head dimiinishes. The aroma is plesant and intersting. Oatey cereal, fruity note of raspberries, slight woodchip, touch of coffee, and tobacco when it warms. The body is thin though, especially for the alcohol content. Light berryish fruityness, slight pine note upfront with a later sweetness of toffee. Candyish malts and a hint of mint when it warms. Strange slightly bitter aftertaste. Simple and not balanced. Flavors are clashing, but not bad.

Bottle, shared in good company near the end of a solid tasting session. Strong alcohol in aroma - probably a little overpowering. Dark brown appearance. Strong taste as expected - sweet malt, simple barley wine taste, but only a little bitterness near the end. Certainly a sweet barleywine, but also quite simple. A good effort.
