Commercial Description:
Big malty flavors, including licorice and chocolate, are balanced with a moderate hop profile. Brewed with copious amounts of prized malts and flaked oats, the Barley Wine is so strong that it has to be aged for several months before we can bottle it. Like a fine wine, it will continue to improve with age up to 2 years after bottling (If kept cool).

sample from bottle - Pours dark brown with very little head. The aroma is malts with a hint of dark fruit and alcohol. It has a nice, full mouthfeel with a pleasantly balanced malt flavor. The alcohol is pretty well masked, so it’s not overly hot like some barley wines. It’s not complex, but it does its thing well.

’’Smells OK. At first not as bad as many grain wines. Strong, thick alky coating mouthfeel without fizz. Should this be sold in the PLCB state store? A big beer without much carbonation. Finish could trigger my gag reflex. On style mah fah. s5L3f2t3o5’’

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured an orange-amber color with a large khaki head that lingered. The aroma had moderate notes of caramel, brown sugar and fruity hops. The flavor was sweetish and fruity with elements of nut, caramel, toasty malts and bitter fruity hops. The finish was long, bitter and fruity with lingering brown sugar. Fairly full bodied. Nice.

From a 12-oz. bottle--Poured deep amber-mahogany color with a khaki-beige body with great lacing. Nose of sticky malts and deep resinous hops. Big bold dank brew. Oh my god!

Bottle. Pours a lightly hazy mahogany and a thin but lasting tan head. Aromas of figs, caramel, bubble gum with just a touch of hoppy citrus. Full, sticky sweet body with medium carbonation. Juicy, chewy taste, with caramel, fruit, citrus. Lingering bittersweet grapefruit and fruit finish. It’s pretty much spot on right now,a and it could only get better with aging.

Promising aroma, with caramel and brown sugar, a touch of berry, spicy hop and a strong twinge of pine and alcohol. Deep, dark, solid red-brown in color, with a massively foamy and lasting head. Flavor begins with some rather sugary sweet caramel and bready maltiness, but is then gracelessly overlayed with a very strong astringent, spicy bitterness and brash alcoholic fire. Generously hoppy finish, some faintly lingering fruit and nut. Vintage is unhelpfully left blank on the label, but I'm guessing it's pretty recent. This beer has fairly enjoyable flavors, but they occur at the wrong times and in the wrong places, somehow. I want to say that aging would help, but that's probably no guarantee.
