Brown color with very little head. Aromas of molassas, brown sugar, toffee. Flavors were similar with some caramel and roastiness. Alcohol was very evident in the finish. I liked it!!! phishpond417 (1953), Madison, Wisconsin, USA

This is an easy going, moderate barley wine with evident malts and a possible touching of orange. The texture was mildly syrupy. Well balanced sweetness. mar (1940), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 13, 2004 Deep auburn. Nose rich, strong, and sweet, maple syrup and brandy. Taste is rich, syrupy and viscous. Quite sweet, strong toffee, caramel, and maple syrup. Bit powdery and sugary at end. Doesn't have much malty depth, just lots of sweetness up front. Not bad, but many better barleywines out there. tronraner (1938), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 14, 2005 Bottle. Pours dark garnet with a wisp of head. Raisin-y malt, bread, and alcohol dominate the aroma. The flavor also has raisin and bread, along with wood and some earthy hops in a very short finish. There is just a tad of alcohol, as well. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 29, 2005 Huge malty alcoholic aroma after a very dark reddish brown pour with no head. Raisins and plums come into play as well. Alcohol is definitely there, but not overpowering either. Finishes sweet. Got a lot better as it warmed. A nice sipper.
