Commercial Description:
Big malty flavors, including licorice and chocolate, are balanced with a moderate hop profile. Brewed with copious amounts of prized malts and flaked oats, the Barley Wine is so strong that it has to be aged for several months before we can bottle it. Like a fine wine, it will continue to improve with age up to 2 years after bottling (If kept cool).

12 oz. bottle thanks to Santa. I thought this was better than I see it is rated here. Brown color with very little head. Aromas of molassas, brown sugar, toffee. Flavors were similar with some caramel and roastiness. Alcohol was very evident in the finish. I liked it!!!

Sampled at Flying Dog and in bottle: Pours a dark red colour with very little head. has a sweet aroma, reminds me of carmel apples. Strong and high in abv, with a noticeable alcohol taste. Raisins, strawberries and cinnamon. a tight hop finish rounds off this strong but balanced brew.

Dark brown almost black with an average head. Aromas of molasse, brown sugar, and sweet malts. Slightly hoppy, strong in alcohol, strong sweet malty flavor with some oak, carmel, and molasses.

Blood cider appearance with a ring of carbonation. This is an easy going, moderate barley wine with evident malts and a possible touching of orange. The texture was mildly syrupy. Well balanced sweetness.

poured dark with a little head. Smelled very sweet and malty, almost like candy. The alcohol is very well hidden. This is definitely on my buy again list.

Deep auburn. Nose rich, strong, and sweet, maple syrup and brandy. Taste is rich, syrupy and viscous. Quite sweet, strong toffee, caramel, and maple syrup. Bit powdery and sugary at end. Doesn't have much malty depth, just lots of sweetness up front. Not bad, but many better barleywines out there.

Bottle. Pours dark garnet with a wisp of head. Raisin-y malt, bread, and alcohol dominate the aroma. The flavor also has raisin and bread, along with wood and some earthy hops in a very short finish. There is just a tad of alcohol, as well.

Huge malty alcoholic aroma after a very dark reddish brown pour with no head. Raisins and plums come into play as well. Alcohol is definitely there, but not overpowering either. Finishes sweet. Got a lot better as it warmed. A nice sipper.
