Commercial Description:
Big malty flavors, including licorice and chocolate, are balanced with a moderate hop profile. Brewed with copious amounts of prized malts and flaked oats, the Barley Wine is so strong that it has to be aged for several months before we can bottle it. Like a fine wine, it will continue to improve with age up to 2 years after bottling (If kept cool).

2008 vintage. Ruddy red-purple color with a thin layer of tan head that leaves only a ring of lasting foam. Cherries and powerful alcohol aroma over a heavy syrupy body. Some brown sugar maltiness, caramel, bready and dark fruits. Alcohol not as apparent as the nose, then a slight hoppiness hidden under the sweet malt finish.

12oz bottle from 2007, tasting pretty fine right now. Pale copper pour with a nice head and carbonation. The aroma is sharply hoppy, even with some age, with a malt mildness that makes this a pretty inviting BW. Taste is still pretty hot initially, which is a mild disappointment, but the creamy body and the caramel flavors tend to balance it out. Pretty good.

This is one of the most smooth tasting Barleywine I ever had, The head of the beer is mininmal, the smells of raisns, fig with choclate slimple give to the taste of chocalte and and carmel. While the Alcohol % is strong it doesnt over-power the beer. Enjoy on those cold nights by the fire.

Bottled: Intensive nose, malty, molasse, some fruit and sugar with alcohol. In the end a remarkable fruity aroma hop note. Brown to red color with a small white head. Flavor is malty, medium sweet with some fruity notes. Quite alcoholic, rum plums and a quite intensive bitterness. Dry, bitter finish, roasted malt and bitter hops. Intensive, too alcoholic and a bit unbalanced. Regardless a good beer.

Pours a clear brown with a dimminishing head. Smells of malts and alcohol. Full flavored with lots of malts. Also aromas of prunes and a hint of port. Slightly cloying mouthfeel. Medium to low carbonation. Sweet and dry finish with some alcohol.

Pours dark reddish brown with smallish off-white head. Aroma is caramel, dark fruit and hops. Flavor is very sweet, quite strong, some alcohol. Bananas, dark fruit, toffee, caramel. Very warming alcohol finish. Nice brew, but alittle too sweet. Would do well with a couple of years to mellow.

Bottle, 355 cl. (Bought @ Mi Orge Mi Houblon, Arlon) Hazy amber-brown color, a good offwhite head. Aroma malts, light hops. Medium body. Taste malts, bit hops and a warming touch of alcohol. Not bad.

The Dan Journal #63. Tasted 12/21/2006. 12oz bottle. Thick and dark brown hue. Lighter edges. Off white head. Sweet juicy raisins and toffee aromas. Chocolate notes. Medium to full bodied with an amazingly smooth malty palate. Coffee and sweet toffee. Smooth and sticky with a vanilla cola flavor. Mild coffee astringent bitterness. Nice bitter hop finish. This was nice.
