Commercial Description:
Big malty flavors, including licorice and chocolate, are balanced with a moderate hop profile. Brewed with copious amounts of prized malts and flaked oats, the Barley Wine is so strong that it has to be aged for several months before we can bottle it. Like a fine wine, it will continue to improve with age up to 2 years after bottling (If kept cool).

12oz bottle. Pours a dark brown/red with small light tan ring head. Nose is dark fruits, dates, molasses. Taste is chocolatey, more dates and dark fruits, molasses, a light bitter finish with an alcohol warmth and tingle.

12 oz bottle, a year old. Clear dark cola with a trace of head. Nose is toffee and boozy raisin, hints of chocolate and hops. Medium body with a spritz of carb. Taste is caramel, Concord grape and butterscotch. Bitter grassy finish. Tasty enough.

2003 bottle. Pours a dark muddy brown color, thin tan head, nice lace. Aroma is predominantly sweet malt, some nuttiness. Flavor is big malt up front with bits of hops and a hell of a lot of alcohol. Fuller body, kind of sticky, lots of fire going down the gullet. I've had plenty worse.

Dark auburn, fizzy white head. The nose is very fruity and sweet with malt. Alcohol being dominant. Te body is spritzy and very sweet. Finishes hoppy and strangely dry. Below average barley wine.

Dark brown. Beige head. Light Aroma of sweet, roasted malt & hops. Thin, syrupy feel. Very sweet flavour of caramelized sugar, caramal, & molasses, w/ earthy hops. Not particularly well-structured.

Pours dark malty brown with almost no head. Very malty aroma with a hint dried fruit, brown sugar, and caramel malt . Taste is smooth and malty with just a hint of roasted malt and maybe a little bit of the hops. The malt hides some of the hops, but you get a little of the hop bitterness in the finish. Definitely a very malt driven barley wine and will be interesting with some aging.

Dark brown in color w/ a sweet malty nose. Medium nectar. Well ballanced. This is a sweet, rather friendly version of this genre. Real easy to drink so watchout w/ the 10.5 ABV. Slightly more interesting than Youngs St. Nick. I detected a slight bitter peach pit on the finish that adds complexity to this not so complex brew. Alcohol is well hidden.

12 oz bottle from DiCarlo Mundelien vintage 06E? Pours a clear dark brown red. Abundant malty nose, red fruits cookie, hint of alcohol. Cookie/toasted and fruit are the first notes on my tongue fading into chocolate, licorice, and bittering pine in the finish. Definitely what i was in the mood for, and pretty decent.
