Commercial Description:
Big malty flavors, including licorice and chocolate, are balanced with a moderate hop profile. Brewed with copious amounts of prized malts and flaked oats, the Barley Wine is so strong that it has to be aged for several months before we can bottle it. Like a fine wine, it will continue to improve with age up to 2 years after bottling (If kept cool).

Bottle from De Bierkoning, @ home. Cloudy reddish brown colour, creamy diminishing off-white head. Aroma of alcohol and lots of dark fruits. Flavour is chocolate, caramel, dark fruits, malts and alcohol. Alcoholic and sweet finish. Not as fullbodied as expected, but a nice sipper nevertheless.

Pours a semi clear amber mahogany with a small beige head. Sweet malty aroma with hints of licorice and syrupy fruit punch. Taste is malty sweet with hints of cotton candy, hops and molasses. Very good. Holds up well after a few years in the cellar.

A very strong barley wine better left to age a bit to take off the alcohol kick a bit. Solid BW, but not my favorite.

Bottled 355ml. Appearance: Hazy dark ruby with a small light beige head. The aroma is mainly of molasses, a huge amount of sour apples, acetone, wax, marzipan and raisin. Malt accentuated. Flavor and palate: Sweet malty taste. Very low bitterness. Alcoholic. Buttery. Mediocre malty finish which is reminiscent of raisin. Overall impression: A very poor barley wine.

Bottle: Good nose yeasty, toffee, light cherry. Great reddish brown color, slighty hazy, though I poued sediment into glass, No head ,no carbonation. Fig, chocolate, cherry flavors. Kinda creamy syrupy. Some warmth, not as I'd think 10.5 would be. Thinner than alot of BW. Not bad but not a winnwer either

Bought this beer at the Frugal MacDoogal’s Liquor store in Nashville. Very malty. Aroma and taste are chocolate and some licorice. Very well balanced beer.

Hazy, dark brown pour. No head. Malty aroma with hints of licorice. Taste mirrors the aroma with bonus touches of oats, chocolate, and subtle hops. Medium/full body, dry finish. Very good.

355 ml bottle. Dark brown and a little hazy. Small white fine-laced head. Bold caramelly aroma with burnt caramel and dark chocolate. Alcohol is definitely there. [truncated]
