Mostly clear dark amber color with a small off-white head, a little lacing, and even some legs. Aroma is caramel, toffee, nuts, fruity esters, and floral notes. Flavor is somewhat standard for a barleywine, if there is such a thing. Caramel, toffee, mild roast, fruity notes, syrup, and faded floral hops. A little booze in there. mildly syrupy with medium-full body . Bullit (1392), Glasgow, Scotland

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 16, 2008 Wow, thisone could be my new barley for speeches. Not better than anchor old foghorn, but for the people it’s great. Sweetness is comfortable and the alcohol is nice bitter and soft. Heavy nose of berries and dried fruits. Warming and long lasting. iwantalambic (1389), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 17, 2003 Outrageously dark purple color, very smiliar to the label in fact. . . pleasant sweet raisin/alcohol aroma. The alcohol is covered well, but covered with quite a bit of malt and not quite enough hoppy bitterness. A decent glass, but a not so impressive barely wine. tytoanderso (1387), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 6, 2007 Bottle. Pours a murky brown with minimal head and carbonation. Pleasant aromas of candied fruit, caramel and malt. Malty at first on the palate followed by a unique black licorice flavor. That fades quickly to some nice candied fruit flavors (plums?). ’06 vintage, I’d like to see what it can develop into in a year or so. Not too bad, and by far the best offering out of this brewery. brewblackhole (1385), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 26, 2004 Friut malt currant aroma, alcohol comes out in 2nd whiff, full rich grape raisin taste, smooth mouth texture, A little sharpness in the finish. Taste is bold enough, but not quite as complex as the best. NoiZe (1382), Mooi Zeist, Netherlands
