Commercial Description:
Big malty flavors, including licorice and chocolate, are balanced with a moderate hop profile. Brewed with copious amounts of prized malts and flaked oats, the Barley Wine is so strong that it has to be aged for several months before we can bottle it. Like a fine wine, it will continue to improve with age up to 2 years after bottling (If kept cool).

Dark brown with a red tinge and thin tan head. Stark alcohol sugar aroma. Syrupy burnt brown sugar essence with a strong tart grape overbite. I’m no barleywine fan, so maybe I’m jaded, but you gotta be in the mood for this potion.

(Bottled, 2007 vintage) Slightly hazy, deep ruby red with a smallish, tanned head, and lots of floating yeast. Lots of vinous, slightly sweet malt with dried fruit. Strongly toffee-malty, mildly roasty, very grainy flavor with some vinous berries. Quite full-bodied and thick palate with lowish carbonation. A full and thick barley wine with not too much sweetness, and less hops than expected.

Bottle says "vintage??" Amber brown with fast disappearing white head. Aroma is sweet sugar, malts, hops, bread & cookies. Sweet spicy warm, sticky & a bit alcohol burning. However alcohol is well hidden in the flavor. Nice lacings. Very well balanced. Complex barley wine & still easy drinkable. Wauw!

Botlle. Cloudy brown, no head. Sweet caramel, spice, earth, pinecones, heather herbal hops. Fruity and caramelly body, nut, herbal hops. Feels a bit one-dimensional for some reason. Quite chewy, sticky mouthfeel. Long caramel and berry aftertaste.

Vintage 2002B... Pours a deep dark ruby color with a small off white head and some lacing. Sweet malty, alcoholic aroma. Taste of sweet fruits (cherry), chewy malt, some alcohol, and a rather thin mouthfeel for a barleywine.

Deep, dark red color, going on black, with a very thin head. Very strong, but sweet, malt aroma. A little grainy, but malt and raw barley are predominant. Quite sweet. It strikes me as very raw; there is not much protection from the alcohol. It could use some time to settle, but good even right away.
