Commercial Description:
Big malty flavors, including licorice and chocolate, are balanced with a moderate hop profile. Brewed with copious amounts of prized malts and flaked oats, the Barley Wine is so strong that it has to be aged for several months before we can bottle it. Like a fine wine, it will continue to improve with age up to 2 years after bottling (If kept cool).

Had this beer on 8/26/2006. Aroma is the rich sweet scent of dark roasted malts. Color is a deep rich brown that lets little light though. Carbonation is low with a thin but tight head. Taste is smooth and rich. Starting with a rich body it goes down smooth with just a light bite on the end. Finish comes in with a rich malt flavor that end with a sweet caramel taste. At the very end it leaves you with a lighter feel then most Barley Wines. I feel it may be just a tad bit light, but this does make it a very drinkable Barley Wine because it isn’t soo heavy and rich.

Pours a deep mahogany into the glass with minimal white head. Aroma is very nice with bubble gum like scents as well as just an overall fruity smell. The taste is absolutely delicious. A lot of the fruit in the nose really comes through in the flavor and the alcohol is really well disguised, while still imparting a warming sensation.

A really big beer for 10.2 ABV. Very dark with a big aroma of malts and barley. Make sure that it’s very cold when served, if it sits around and warms up then the flavor can be lost.

It poured a hazy brown-amber liquid with a medium sized dirty white foam. It had a strong smell of caramell, malt, whine and an alcoholic finish. It tasted the same way with a thich and heavy taste of caramell, malt and a warm alcoholic finish. A well done barley wine that I really enjoyed.

355 ml bottle. Finland. Dark amber colour with medium-size tan head. Sweet caramel, hops, roasted malts and some alcohol in aroma. Warming alcohol in flavour. Soft sweet hoppy flavour with some bitterness. Not much of an aftertaste. Smooth.

Pours ruby amber with a thick tan head. Aroma is cherry, vanilla, alcohol, honeysuckle, and some nut. Taste is very roasty with sweet caramel as well then a noticeably bitter chocolate and toffee finish. Smooth texture with the alcohol hidden well. Very well made beer.

On tap at Quivey’s Grove Beer Fest. Pours deep brown color with off-white small head. Very malty aroma with a mix of caramel apple, molasses and alcohol. Flavor is malty, cocoa, wood and dark fruit flavors. I expected a strong alcohol finish or burn, but I did not get it. I could tell it was a high ABV, but it was not harsh at all. One of the tops from the day.

Dull purple color, like that of prune juice. Thick swath of lace up top. Dark iced tea. Looks great. Aroma is sweet raisin, prunes. Alcohol burst. Mild citrus hop accent. Malts are just ever-so-lightly toasted. The taste is a major burst of alcohol. Roasted malts. Thick flavor of sweetish barleywine / Scotch ale flavors. A tad sweet, but harsh in both the malts and the alcohol. A bit leathery, but sweet overall. Dark, sweet fruits dominate. Fizzy and creamy. Thick and chewy. Well-balanced, thick, dark fruits. Lots of alcohol.
