The head quickly dissolves, leaving a dark brown ale with strong aroma of chocolate. Taste is strong on malt, with a little anise in the back, and finishes with a little spice. Alcohol is definately there, slightly warming the gullet on the way down. I have some extras that I plan to age for a bit, and possibly re-rate. mkobes (2104), paramus, New Jersey, USA

Aroma of mollasses and chocolate. Dark amber color with generous head and lots of silky lacing on the glass. Flavors of fig and chocolate malt with a good amount of hops that tingle in your mouth. There was not a very strong alcohol taste to this and was a tad overcarbonated on the palate and very dry. domtom (65), Bienne, Switzerland

Appealing aroma of licorice and memories of caramel cream candies. Malty flavors imparted a smooth mouthfeel complimented by a subtle hop presence. Fruity, sweet finish with a noticable alcohol kick. Compares well to many other barley wines. Best of the Flying Dog litter that Ive tried so far. TBone (6804), Pori, Finland

Ruby color, small floating yeast particles, small off-white head. Hoppy, berry-like, bready aroma. Licorice, sweet liquer and barley in the flavor. Very smooth, enjoyable liquerish mouthfeel. Me likes! highibus (435), Mill Creek, Washington, USA
